So I want to get a 360. However, I rarely bother handling my games with care and almost always end up wrecking them at some point, so I only want to invest the money if I can backup my games.

I read quite a bit into modding it, flashing the firmware etc. However I noticed it varies a lot based on which DVD drive you get. What I was wondering is which DVD drives are currently shipped with the xbox 360s, and what modchip (solderless) will support these newest drives? If you know of a good site which will ship the modchip to Norway that'd be appreciated aswell.

Also, I've heard you can't play online anymore with the backup games. Well I hadn't originally planned to play online so it isn't that important, but would still like to know the status on it.

I'm planning on buying the arcade version, is there any difference in modchips or support for these? Also, if it is possible to play them online, I can still patch a reasonable amount of games? I don't plan on using it for anything else then playing games really, so I don't see much point in getting a premium. Also, the arcade doesn't support HD output? I'm connecting it to my 1080p computer screen which has both component and HDMI.

Really, if you're only using it for games you've backed up, the best option is just to take care of your games in the first place?

From what i gather after watching a video on live, the new xbox dashboard allows you to back up games to your hard drive. So get the one with hard drive, i think it is 60gb now but i cold be wrong.....:)

You don't back up the games, you just install them for shorter load times. You still need the disc in the console for it to play.

I mean, you can't just go to Blockbuster and start renting shit and keeping the game for free by installing it.

You can always wait up to 4 or 5 years and wait for them to put it on the market place to download... then ta da instant games on your hard drive... You can buy Fable right now on market place =)

ok let me fill you in on how it works. currently 360s (all types) are being shipped with lite-on drives which are unflashable atm.

but you can try and look for old xboxs with old samsung drives etc as they can be easily flashed

btw if you do get it flashed do not play it on live you will get banned

Yeah first time i read that on the xbox site i was the what the fuck? But yeah theres no point on putting your games on the HD cause it just uses up unnecessary space, also do not play on live u'll get fucked up by Microsoft.

All the articles I found on google were from 2006, and might not take into account newer productions of the xbox.
