I played Deus Ex 2 before I played the original (was a Christmas present and I wasn't specific enough in asking), and it really wasn't that bad. Pretty decent FPS. It's just not the same game as the original; the story isn't that great, the levels aren't as brilliant, and all the rpg elements save for some special powers you can get are stripped away.

Sounds good to me. Haven't played DE2 yet. Will have to get down to Gamestation and have a butcher's for it. Just so I can get a feel for the third one.
And they went with the Helios merged ending for the second one? Fair enough.
Woulda been amusing to kill the Illuminati and the other guys after giving them the reigns though. That woulda made a great game...
