[In before lolshittyniggergun]

I decided it was about damn time I celebrate our Lord and Saviour Barack "The Islamic Shock" Obama's rise to power (not to mention the increasing violent crime rates in my home town) by honoring a centires-old tradition of purchasing a firearm. This will be my first such gun purchase. :)

I won't be able to shoot it until this weekend, so no range reports yet.

I bought this particular gun for $160 at a local shop. The C9 is supposed to have a 11.5 lb trigger pull, but this one feels pretty light, a little more than a Buck Mark which is around 2.4 lbs. This might be ~3.5-5. What they say is true, this thing is heavy. It weighs about as much as a box of 50 9mm rounds. The safety is easier than I have heard to release. I guess the other guy must have had large hands or a long thumb. The gun itself fits my hand quite nicely. This particular gun only came with the ghost ring sight.

I took it apart and the slide itself is heavier than the rest of the gun. No scratches anywhere except on the top of the inside of the slide where it appears it may have jammed. Not much wear on the insides, so it might not even be broken in yet, hence the jamming problem. The magazine release is just slightly too far for my thumb to easilly press it hard enough to release, but my middle finger can manage. The trigger also feels a little cheesy being made of the same plastic as the body, but I would love to make one from aluminum.

Makes me wanna go down to the hood and blast some fools!

Too bad its not stainless! :)

If you are good enough to machine triggers than you should be working on something like a 1911!

cool thing about those slides are if you have a grinder you can grind em into all kinds of shapes, the weight will be off no matter what after the first 2 rounds are out.

Definitely give a range report on how it shoots. Im looking to move out, and just the other week I was considering buying a hi point as an apartment HD gun. I was considering a pistol or just going through with the Hi Point Carbine ive been wanting to get and going with that. Im definitely not going to keep my current guns with me when I leave. I may trust my room mate, but there's no telling who will be over there when im not.

I know we arent all baller status, but Id at least spend another 50 - 100 bucks and get a kel tec 9mm if I wanted something to trust my life on.

I didn't feel like spending my Thanksgiving week nursing a broke hand because I bought a light gun. Even experienced shooters start getting uncomfortable after 50 shots with the 9mm. It does feed hollowpoints, though. The C9 doesn't like hollowpoints very much, but I can work on that later. I'm pretty sure it's got alot to do with the magazine. Fully loaded, the seventh bullet wants to nosedive easilly. (stock mag is 8-rounds, and it's a bitch getting the last bullet in.)

A competition C9 shooter had mentioned cutting a coil off the mag spring tends to help out with feeding issues.

Get a safe?

Lightening the slide could have negative effects on performance. It's so damn heavy because it's a straight blowback design. It's like the illegitimate child of an M-11/9 and a Glock. :D

*Cringes*
i have shot a c9 and it had no problems but the thing is just so damn ugly. The frame is so weak feeling and is much smaller due to the slide being so big and bulky.

The sights on the c9 are weird and I would have to say I dislike them.

They don't necessarily have to be bolted down, it is better, but they are heavy and hard to move so unless someone wants to steal the entire safe(and maybe still not be able to open it) then I'd say you are good.
