I first looked into a dragunov but after seeing real ones (including the Chinese ones) were rare and expensive I said fuck that so im looking into a psl going to buy it from here http://www.snipercountrypx.com/showproduct.aspx?productid=1774
and get this scope for it http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=773 I wasnt wanting to spend so much money on one but I really wanted that "dragunov" reticle. So what I want to know is do you know anyone that has a psl and what do they say about it.There seems to be mixed feelings about it but everyone who has something bad to say about it never really seemed to know what they were talking about, were unfair, and got those crappy American ones or ones that were recalled due to spotty welding.

Aim surplus has them cheaper. They are the real PSL-54Cs and not kit guns so it is exactly the same as snipercountry's
Don't shoot 7.62x54r heavy ball, only light ball
Don't expect .5 moa accuracy at 400 meters. Expect designated marksman type accuracy
Other than that, go for it. They aren't getting any cheaper.

Is there anything wrong with the .308 Saiga that you didn't choose that?
The Saiga has a siderail mount so it'll take PSOP scopes.
Also .308 ammo is easier to find and commerical loadings are non-corrosive.
I'm willing to bet factroy Saiga magazines are easier to find than PSL magazines.
And the Saiga can take 25 round Surefire magazines as well.
Also, screw Kalinka they're overpriced.
Goodoptics.com has the scope you were looking at (without the useless laser) for about $100 cheaper.
However, I would put this on whatever platform you choose http://www.binocularsmart.com/scopes/ak-akm-svd-rifle-scopes-1p21.shtml ($290 shipped)
But that's just me.
Saigas should cost less than $600 and are probably a much better rifle.

.308 = $.50/round
7.62x54r = $.18/round

I'm aware of that.
But what happens if/when the surplus 7.62x54r dries up?

There is domestic manufacture 7.62x54r. It's priced about the same as any other high powered rifle cartridge in that range.
But honestly, as cheap as it is, you can buy it cheap and stack it deep right now and never have to worry about it. And 7.62x54r is still in use in machine guns in a great many countries in the world and will continue to be. Unless there is some kind of legal change in the status of ammo importation, there will be a steady supply of surplus for at least another twenty or thirty years, if not fifty years.

This is exactly why I didn't go with a Makarov and won't go with a 7.62x31 Saiga. When shit does hit the fan and I run out or something bad happens with whatever I have stocked up (water damage, fire?), I don't want to be left without ammunition. I'd choose .223 over .308 for my frist Saiga because I want a bullpup kit and .308 has a good bit more of a kick to it.
Exo brings up a good point about cost. I would have chosen .308 instead of 7.62x54R for a rifle like the PSL but that is some really cheap ammo, and I could take that risk mitigation by shear numbers. :D

Meh, the military Dragunov reticles (as are alot of Russian reticles IIRC) are illuminated by tritium scintillescence on fluroescent paint.
When do your parents leave and come back for Thanksgiving?
BTW, here is a video going over some of the differences between an SVD and Izhmash's Tigr: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DbNyBsCvCk&feature=related Not that much different between the SVD and the AK action in the PSL.
This is a pretty neat scope: http://www.dragunov.net/pso.html
Would work well with an infrared laser or infrared spotlight.

My opinion,
Go for the Saiganov in .308. That way, it'll be compatible with the higher quality IOR super M1, and you won't have to worry about ammo importation bans since .308 will never go away.
Plus the Saiga will probably be of higher quality anyway.

I looked into the .308 and didnt think too much of it but thnx to whoever posted those bullets ive been looking into where to buy the ammo from and theres no reason to worry about supply when you buy 1000 rounds ;). But im not sure what are the pros and cons of having soft point ammo?
And to Argon im not sure when they are leaving.

Find out. I can introduce you to some ale and shoot my C9. :) (I'm fairly drun katm. Negra Modelo is not bad for a spic brew.)
Anyway, soft point should, iirc, expand more when it hits something hard as opposed to standard FMJ. It's not shootan ammo. You should look into buying a 20 round box of Wolf and seeing how your gun handles it. The loose-built AK's seem to not mind the cheap stuff quite as much. My C9 might as well, but I've got Winchester and Magtech to work with at the moment.
Just look up the caliber and "ammunition" in google and see what comes up. Cabelas offers 500 per ammo can for ammunition, as opposed to 1000 like some places. I;d buy from there since ammo cans are good, yes? EDIT: That is, they give youa free ammo can for buying that shit. naameen?
Meh, I'll be in tormorrow so I'll find ut then.

Just buy it online, fagget. You can do that shit legally now.
Here is that Saiga delership I was talking about: http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/
Like only a couple miles away from me.
Really, you probably don't want to "arrage a tranfer" (lolol) unless you have money. You are buying the bike first, yes? See what I mean?
Wait, WHO said thaWolf ammo would be hard to get? People who looked at local stores who are probably not within our area? See wut i mean lawl? See: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0022872215176a.shtml I could habe that shit real quick.
Here is some 7.62x54R: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0054119216509a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCHFEAT_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=7.62x54R&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1

Funny, since you are the one with poor punctuation. Really, for shooting ammo you should just get the cheapest ammo that works. You don't plan on killing anyone soon, do you? :p The economy isn't THAT bad yet, and nignogs don't know where you live.
Tomorrow then.

My bossaman is going to work me till 5 most likely (but he is going to leave early...), and I'll be going in at 10:30-ish. I'll probably fuck around a little bit after work like I normally do. This isn't some Saturday shit, I don't think.
Btw, The shop I bought my C9 at had a AR-15 for $750. :) lol, it looks alot bigger IRL than in pics online. Oddly, the C9 (http://www.mouseguns.com/hipoint/boxed.jpg) looks alot smaller IRL than online.

*Cringes*
i have shot a c9 and it had no problems but the thing is just so damn ugly. The frame is so weak feeling and is much smaller due to the slides big bulky design.
I would just get the saiga .308. But those psls' do look cool.
