Considering it came with my copy of Counter Strike Source, Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Deathmatch, and some shitty WWII game I think ill pass... I got some pack with all these games for about $3... =\ Have fun with that since the game sucks anyway.
and some shitty WWII game .

I never could into Half-Life or Counterstrike...but I did beat Half-Life 2 on the Xbox.
I'm not a fan of mouse and keyboard controls, honestly.

$0.98 is pretty much what it's worth.

Anyone who doesn't already own, and hasn't already beaten Half Life 1 is probably not going to enjoy it.
People who haven't played it most likely live under a gaming rock, and won't understand why an old game can be fun, as a posed to something new and shiny. They can't comprehend why a game life Half Life 1 was so revolutionary.

You and GotTotts can just get the fuck out of here. It is a definitive game of the FPS genre, and it still stands the test of time well. If you don't like this, you likely have terrible taste in video games. Fuck off back to your halo, cunt. I'll be over here playing Deus Ex and SS2.
I never finished Half Life. I couldnt get into it no matter how hard I tried. I got as far as where you're climbing through vents in a meat locker type area (I think that's what it was).
Half Life 2 kicked ass though. I had to go and read the entire wikipedia article to figure out who the people were, what the Combine are, etc. Maybe i'm just dense, but I couldnt figure out what the fuck was going on at all by just playing the game itself. This seems to be the problem most people have and end up losing motivation to play it.
But yeah,Half Life 2 and the 2 episodes = win. Half Life 1 wasn't so hot for me. Different strokes.

I didn't really care what was going on with the storyline in Half-Life 2. I was just having fun driving those buggys around and cutting those zombie things in half.

HL1 is my second all time favorite game (behind Ocarina of Time). I have played through it at least 4 times, and it still gets me way to involved every time.
I definitely recommend it to anyone out there who is looking for a great cheap game to play.

Don't get it, you can't use mods with teh steam version. Like Counterstrike. Why I bought it in the first place; I would have been fucking pissed if it wasn't such a great game.

Didn't you diss retro gaming like two weeks ago, going on about how the games from the 80s were all crap?
For under a dollar it's not a bad deal... It's just too bad they haven't made Opp Force and Blue Shift for Steam

Opposing Force, basically Half Life 1 but with slightly better weapons and enemies, is pretty much my favourite game ever. I didn't play it immediately after it came out, so its not like a reminiscence thing, and I've played my way through Half Life 2, and just don't think its as good. Sadly. Obviously graphically its superior, but somehow its just not as good, which was a tiny bit of a let down.

Never could get into Half Life 2 but because this was so cheap I bought it and I'm enjoying it FAR more than 2 ever did. No idea why. Perhaps the whole "Trapped" sense to it makes it more fun for me.

I've never played Half Life, due to me being a mac guy for a long time. Now that I have an intel laptop with wine, I can finally play some windows games I've been missing out on. This thread prompted me to download steam and buy HL1.

Play on a harder difficulty, faggot. It's not really an easy game at all.
Half-Life was the shit, anyone remember the dam? Shiiiit...
Some of you people need to learn some respect for the classics. Half-Life revolutionized computer gaming just like DOOM and Quake did when they first came out. Half-Life is a classic, but I already have it. I bought a couple of large Valve packs a while ago, and I have mostly everything from HL1 to CS:S and Portal. Thanks for the headsup though! Having a permanent copy on Steam for $1 isn't a bad deal at all.
