So I downloaded a pirated version of L4D that allows me to play online (with other steam players, and yes this is possible), after playing the demo. The demo was very upsetting but I thought to myself, hey, it's just a demo..

I went ahead and installed/played the full version. What the fuck? This game could have been made by a small third party developer team within 6 months, and they're asking for 50/60 dollars for this piece of shit? Wow. The game really has nothing unique or amazing about it, just shoot zombies and move on, shoot more, move on, oh shit a fat one, ok dead, move on. The zombie AI is horrible, and the trailers were incredibly misleading. Playing online with close friends can be fun for 30 mins, then you get the vibe that everyone is as bored as you are, because they are. IMO the zombie mod for counter-strike source is 10x+ better than this game. Not to mention there's no real story line to this game (I know it's supposed to be more multiplayer oriented but they could have tried a little harder.)

One thing I will admit is that I can see this game having extremely good potential, while tripping with other friends/lan, and I have yet to try that.

Then you didn't do as you say you did.

You ran, shot some zombies, fell down, got pounced on, shot a fat zombie, became covered in bile, and lost your life in a mob of even MORE zombies. :)

Better yet, play some more VS mode. On expert.

The first time I played it, the demo in singleplayer, I thought the same thing.

Then I played a whole bunch more matches with actual people I know and I realized it's genius. Is it a simple concept? Yes. Would a group of modders been able to balance it and perfectly integrate all the components that make it the best co-op game ever? Very fucking doubtful.

I'm buying it tomorrow, and I can't wait to play through the whole campaign with a few friends.

I'll wait for what proffesional critics have to say.

No need to wait:

I've only played it on Xbox 360, on two-player splitscreen co-op with the other two characters played by AI, and even with that sort of compromised experience I was blown away.

Sure, it's kind of simple, but it's challenging and intense. The game hardly ever gives you a second to breathe and when it does, it feels like things are going to snap at any second and go absolutely fucking nuts. And they will.

The randomized things in the game keep it pretty fresh - My friend and I played all the way to the end of the first scenario on advanced, but then couldn't beat it. It was too tough. A few times we made it to the last tank, but it inevitably killed us. I blame it on the two AI characters. But the point is that each time we played it over, the zombies, weapons, "special zombies" - all those things were in different places. Or not there at all. It's great.

If I had the money to buy it today, I'd be online playing it right now. instead I've got to wait until I get paid tomorrow, then get off work at 4...but I'll be on then, on Xbox Live XD

Can't wait!

they would of matched valve and probably done a better job too

infact i imagine the director has been written by a monkey who typed in a few commands like add more or less zombies if ppl are killing them too fast being killed by them and throw in a few special onesevery so often or if some runs back with low health then spawn a group of zombies.

Im just worried about how much I'll actually play it once I beat it on all difficulty's. I do think it took a wee bit too long for the amount of content.

It's alright, but nothing to scrounge for change to try to buy....

I'd prefer just doing Horde in Gears of war. I do like L4D for what it is, though.

Holy shit I played for about five hours last night with three of my friends. That shit is so much fun! It's not like any other shooter I've ever played; it's a perfectly crafted experience. The way you have to constantly keep moving, sticking together and helping one another isn't like anything else I know of. Until now, Dead Rising was the closest I'd come to a game feeling like a zombie movie. It still does, but Left 4 Dead feels like a different kind of zombie movie...

I can see how some people might take issue with its repetitiveness and lack of story, but the gameplay at its core is insanely perfect. Try it - but try it online with three other people, if you want to see its full potential.

It's not a huge deal to me, but I killed an outstanding number of zombies by shooting their hands... that were sticking through the wall.

I'm pretty sure you can just do matchmaking...but it's probably more fun with friends. I haven't played it by myself yet but I'd bet that it's not as much fun as playing with other people.

L4D is a pretty decent game. Even though the trailers were deceiving along with some other things.

Weapons -

It says there are 10 weapons in the game , but the dualies and pistols are counted separate. They also consider the propane and gas tank weapons ...

I was really expecting more guns and much more diversity within the game as it was portrayed.

Content -

For the wait , it sure is lacking a lot in this area. The campaigns are well designed but they are incredibly short and get boring after awhile. Playing with friends will no doubt make this experience better but still there should be many more campaigns

Specials -

I like the idea of this just for the reason it makes the game a lot harder and enforces team work. Although there should be actual "bosses" instead of the same shit running around.

Bugs -

There aren't too many bugs that I have found , mainly for me the game has problems connecting to servers. Also many servers that my group and I get connected to have very bad ping and make it nearly impossible to play on.

Future Development -

Valve will obviously be planning on creating more extreme gameplay and maybe an actual story to go along with the game. I've been hearing of new weapons (such as a flamethrower) and different game modes.

L4D was definitely rushed , but has a lot of potential to become a very popular game. Since it did just come out , I am very impressed by the AI and general gameplay so far.

My 2 cents :)

How many players can you have with split screen co-op on the 360?

Who would want to split screen anyway? With all the confusion inherent to this game, making your screen tiny as fuck would crush your team faster than common sense flies out the window of a creation museum.

You register a new steam account without any games on it and use that so you don't get your good account banned.
