MODS: sorry for posting the same in 2 forums, delete the thread in BLTC if you like.

So as we all know strength varies according to variety of poppy and harvesting and processing techniques. Poppy seed tea works due to the opium resin on the outside of the seeds, apparently its there because of a relatively new technique which involves crushing the pods and not cleaning the seeds. Even though some seeds look to have more resin on them than others, I don't think it's a reliable method of determining the strength of the resulting tea. I have heard of many imported seeds (into australia) to be from the opium poppy, while others are from other varieties (which apparently also have active alkaloids).

So anyway, you've figured out you've got a pretty week batch of seeds and you need 2 or more cups to get effects. now you don't want to drink all that lemon/vinegar tasting water, so I've created this thread to discuss ways of concentrating the actives.

I've tried a method of doing one batch (1.5 cups of seeds with some cidar vinegar, shake, stand 10 minutes, strain), and then putting fresh seeds in the same water, maybe add a little more acid, and do it over again. This didn't seem to increase the effects, which made me think there must be alot of inactives dissolved in that water for it not to take up more actives.

So before I try that again, I'm thinking maybe using 4-5 cups of seeds (or whatever is needed) and just enough water to cover them, doing the normal extraction and then boiling it down to a cup or so.

Now obviously heat is likely to alter the dissolved compounds. There's also the fact that a lot of the alkaloids are in a water soluble form, due to the acid being added, therefore having different properties (although I imagine higher boiling points etc, so more stability at high heat). But I still don't know what to expect. This makes me think also (I'll need to do more research) but are we creating morphine citrate with the citric acid? I wonder what the vinegar creates... some long chemical name probably.

I'm not real smart with all this so feel free to correct anything I've said. And yes I will try to find good seeds, but I still have 4 pounds of these shitty ones and alot of people out there will get shitty ones too.

One last thing, does anyone know of the pesticide/herbicide concentrations with seeds?

Cheers.

P.S. I think the dulling of the morphine type effects might also be attributed higher levels of the other alkaloids like papaverine etc.
