lol....

If you like corona and wine, then what people will suggest in this thread probably won't suit your tastes.

As for your question, I have no idea what the best beer is (not that any one beer could ever be crowned champion) but here's a good site to get you started:

For some reason I deem Corona my favorite beer, too.

Guiness is also one of the best beers I've tried.

American Macrobrews are shit, but they are made so you can have 40 and still keep on drinking. American Microbrews on the other hand make some of the best beers in the world.

Personally I like Saranac and Long trail. My favorites from Saranac are the Vanilla stout. It is dark and malty with a slight sweet after taste. The Belgium Ale is a trappist style and is very good. I actually prefer it to Chimay,

As for long trail, I like every brew they create. They know how to still make a beer hoppy but they put so many subtle flavors in there at the same time. I enjoy a Belgium white, and their winter seasonal Hibernator. they are on the different side of the spectrum flavor wise, but they are amazing.

If you want to go with an import (in the United States) then I prefer Newcastle, or Guinness. if you want to lighter than that, I would go with leffe, or Spaten. Both are light and very tasty. If you want to go even ligher get a Pilsner Urquell. Though Pilsner is not my style I have not met any novice drinker who does not enjoy it.

I'm a fan of pale ales, whether an IPA or an APA. The stuff I got hooked on locally has a strong aroma of hops and finishes with a nice citrus flavor to cleanse the palette. It's only available here in Laramie, though. If a pale ale suits you, I'd recommend Red Hook's IPA. Not as strong on the hops, but a well balanced beer for certain.

I tend to enjoy a pint or two of an amber ale as well, and I highly recommend Fat Tire (which is brewed just down the road from here in Ft. Collins, CO). All of New Belgium's craft brews are tasty, but they made their name on Fat Tire, it seems. Nice, nutty flavors, and not so heavy that it fills too filling. Also works great for making beer glazes and beer batters.

Really, the only way you'll learn about beers is to get out there with someone who has a bit of experience and give them a try. No need to become a beer snob or anything (though if you have wine tasting experience, you will likely find beer just as rewarding), but learning what you like via experimentation can't be a bad thing.

I quite like real ales and am partial to brewing ale myself, doing all grain mashes fairly regularly. I don't have a constant favourite or believe there's a best beer but dislike most lagers and have only come across a few American ales I've liked. Coopers of Australia are pretty good for a big beer company, I very much enjoy their Vintage Ale, Stout and Sparkling Ale.
Being from Ireland I've had a few pints of Guinness but consider it to be absolute shit, not as bad as bud or smithwicks but it doesn't do anything for me. The best Guinness I've had would be the Foreign Extra (7.5%).
Myself and my friends have done a few tours around England trying ales, mainly in the Northern counties and short of rambling about all the ales tried I'll just say that Durham brewery is the best brewery I've ever been to. I've got to go back there before christmas to pick up a cask of Bede's Chalice, a well hopped 9% golden ale; which at the moment is my favourite ale. The people who run the brewery are a bit eccentric but very kind and informative and they produce a whole range of excellent beers.
Another of my favourite ales would be the Belgian Maredsous 10, simply sensational.

well American beer you can cancel out right away there beer sucks and its like 4% so boo.

You really need to try more American beer. Most are 5%ABV or more. The NY Times did an article on how American beer has, on average, more alcohol by volume than beer from other countries, including England and Germany.

Stella Artois tastes and smells like skunk. I did a pick 6 build your own 6 pack at a liquor store and chose a Stella along with a few others. It was one of the worst beers I can remember. Skunky and nasty. Just like Heineken and Beck's. I really don't like skunky beer.

Shiner Bock is fantastic, as is Shiner Black Lager.

Salvator Paulaner is fantastic. Their double bock is really good too, but it's a bit on the heavy side and has ~8.5%ABV.

I'm having some Sam Adams Cherry Wheat tonight. It's really interesting, made with Michigan cherries. Really smooth ale. Sam Adams Boston lager is good too. They have a lot of good beers.

From México I like Pacífico, Negra Modelo, León, Indio.

Other breweries I like are Saranac, New Belgium, Flying Dog, Boulder Brewing Co., Red Hook, Boulevard Brewing Co., and Goose Island.

Goose Island is a brewery based in Chicago, IL. Their Honker's Ale and IPA are fucking tasty. Everyone should try those. Also, Boulevard Wheat from the Boulevard Brewing Co. is fantastic.

There really isn't a 'best' beer, in my opinion. Some days I want a Porter (I recommend the Boulder Brewing Co. Vanilla Porter or the Boulevard Brewing Co. Bully Porter) or I'll want a wheat ale or a hoppy IPA. I may even want a pilsner. The point is, there's a lot of beer out there and you should try as many as you can. Sampler packs are a good way to find out what you like.

I'm going to try some Tommyknocker beers this week, I think.

Fuck you. I'm serious. I hate every beer I've drank except those ones. I refuse to drink any other beer unless I'm already drunk and can't really taste it.

Those beers are like making love in a canoe.

Newsflash: Every country in the world has it's own microbreweries with their own super-magical best there ever was beer. These are obscure though. Someone not from that tiny region will not be able to purchase said super-beer.

I would recommend an ale. Ales are sweeter and have more flavour than lagers. Me personally, I like molson export.

Carlton Draught - It's an ozzy beer made in Melbourne. It has a very light flavour. Good for getting drunk on.

Tui - Its an East India Pale Ale. Pretty weak, but it tastes amazing.

Carlsberg - Just an amazing beer. No explanation required.

Monteiths Black - The best beer I've ever tasted. It's a dark ale (from New Zealand) and when it touches your lips it feels smooth and creamy, almost thick. When you drink it you'll notice it's got a strong taste, quite bitter, but an initial taste of coffee with after tastes of chocolate and caramel. Watch out for this stuff...it tastes so good you'll down them so quick before you know it you're drunk. I think I'll have one now.

If you're into Corona you should probably stick with pale ales, they have a far less "beery" taste to them.

I like Moosehead and Alexander Keith's.

You'd probably also like a lot of light beers. As disgraceful as that is. Try Bud Light.

i personally think the leinenkugels sunset wheat, Blue Moon, Sierra nevada pale ale, Upland wheat ale (brewed in bloomington,IN) are all tied up for my personal favorite. if you guys have never tried leinenkugels sunset wheat, you are missing out,it has a sweet berry flavor to it that just makes you so happy all over.

and if all else fails, try a sixer of blue moon, with or without the orange slice garnish.

Greeneking IPA.
Abbot Ale.
Hobgoblin.
Old Speckled Hen.
Fuller's London Pride.
Leffe (all of them).
Hoegaarden.

Stone's Russian Imperial Stout.

As far as Euroland goes, I REALLY recommend Caffrey's, from Northern Ireland. It's fucking awesome. Better than Guinness IMO. Carslberg is good. I like Czechvar, from... well, if you can't guess, I'm not going to explain. I'm trying to get into some German beers, tonight I'm having some Bitburger. I'll report back ;).

I concur. Also not so far removed that you have to be a beer snob already to understand it. It's accessibility is certainly an asset too.
