It's pretty interesting stuff. Funnily enough, Acid guru Timothy Leary modeled transformative acid experiences on the book of the dead.
The emphasis is to gain control and pull peace from the chaos of distracting experiences, and to hold onto that as long as one can.

Very interesting stuff indeed, i saw this a few days ago actually..

One thing i like about Tibetan Buddhism is that it explains there may be Negative and positive experiences when you die. It makes perfect sense right? Why the fuck would death be sunshine and lollypops right away. It doesnt mean your in hell if there are scary aspects to death.

The bright light they talk about is interesting. Ive heard from people in my real life who saw this light. They say it was the most intense and beautiful thing ever :D

Yes, and the ironic thing is that this light was within them all the time--this is one thing that Jesus was talking about when he said "The kingdom of God is within you."
