Just out of principle, I'll usually wait behind such an idiot for about 3 minutes, then I'll smash them in the back of the head suddenly, walking quickly out of the store before the store clerk can even get a good description for police. Yes, it's true. I'm not very nice.

Notice how you mention purse, yet you still treat this endemic as if men are guilty too. Only women do this, particularly older women; because women cannot handle money they have conditioned themselves not to carry cash on hand as they understand that they are irrational by their very nature.

When one must write out what one is about to spend, and remembers that it is in the bank where it needs to be, one puts forth more attention to their socioeconomic status. So while it is extremely frustrating, the more you see it the better. There are two positives in this women going against their natural ways and less credit debt being worked up nationally, which means an approach towards a better economy and a monetarily moral society.

If women behaved more like men (responsibility wise) and actually thought about what they were going to buy at the store, made a rough estimate and took five percent more than what they needed in cash (for insurance), made the purchase and kept the change the economic crisis we face might be a little less worse than it is today. Good riddance on these pitiful creatures, they are so unfortunate.

You are all forgetting the obvious fact, to wit, men can be quite needy when it comes to controlling the family bank account, and the poor lesser woman of the house may only have the check-book as a way into the funds. But I agree with OP, though I've never had to deal with that at my store. The credit cards irk me enough, anyways; place down their $0.50 newspaper and $1 bottle of water and slap down the credit card without skipping a beat.
