any one else making a gingerbread house this year?

i'm having trouble figuring out what kind of candies to decorate it with.


any recipes/suggestions would be awesome.

i want to make a pretty big one. i've never made on from scratch though. it's gonna be tough.

My parents are obsessed with Disney World, my mom's birthday is Dec. 23rd so we always go during the Christmas time, on top of all the other times my parents go throughout the year.

But on topic, The Grand Floridian Resort always builds a life-size gingerbread house out of actual edible materials, they run a shop out of it selling treats and what not. It's pretty cool to see in person.

And the Beach Club Resort has a carousel made out of chocolate. Pretty bad ass.

that's so awesome! my birthday is six days before christmas! that's be so awesome. disney looks fucking gorgeous when it's decorated for christmas.

Tis true. I'm taking my girlfriend this year, she hasn't been since she was like six. I'm stoked. But again, that is only for 2009, so make plans for next year. It is also only redeemable on your birthday so if you can't make it on your birthday, don't even bother. And if you already have an annual pass or a pass you plan on using, they give you a gift card with the value of one day's admission that you can only use on your birthday, but it's still pretty bitchin.

I think you're looking for Royal Icing. It's like egg white based, you can find it in powder form in the baking section, usually.
