View Full Version : Cooking a frozen pizza in the microwave?
So I have a jack's pepperoni pizza but no working oven, I do however have a really big microwave that the pizza can fit in. I know it will probably be soggy, but does anyone have any tips on cooking a pizza in the microwave?
Simply don't do it. Wait until you get a working oven.
Seriously, not only will the pizza be soggy but by the time it's actually hot enough to eat the dough will be impossibly chewy.

The fuck are you trying to say? You defrost the pizza in the microwave, and then put it on a cast iron pan, put a lid on it, and heat it up on a stove top? Is that right?
This is enough for four thin crust pizzas
Dough:
Pizza Dough
1kg bread flour
2 sachets of dried yeast
30ml salt
30ml olive oil
a little extra virgin olive oil to finish
1.) Place the flour on the work surface, mix in the yeast and the salt and make a well in the middle. Pour the oil into the well together with 400ml of warm water (body temperature). Begin to kneed by gathering flour from the side of the inner wall of the well. Add more water (About 700-800ml in all) until thick dough forms.
2.) Knead for about 10 minutes and divide the dough into four balls. Place them into four greased bowls covered with a damp cloth (dish towel) and then leave them to rise in a warm place out of any drafts, until they have doubled in size, about 2 and a half hours.
3.) Lightly flour 4 square baking trays and heat the oven to its hottest temperature.
4.) Punch down one of the balls and stretch and roll it into a circle about 5mm thick. Leave a slightly thicker rim around the sides. Repeat with the other three balls and add your chosen toppings.
5.) Bake at 450 to 500 degrees F, until the edges turn a light brown colour. While still hot, brush the edges with the extra virgin olive oil.
Toppings:
Alla Marinara
Enough for two pizzas
350g of fresh tomatoes, peeled
60ml of extra virgin olive oil
10 ml garlic cloves, very finely sliced
10 ml dried oregano or 40 ml of fresh oregano
salt and ground black pepper
1.) Cut the tomatoes in half, squeeze out some of the juice and coarsely chop the flesh.
2.) Spread the tomatoes over the pizza dough bases (crusts), drizzle with the olive oil and sprinkle with the garlic, oregano, some salt and plenty of pepper.
3.) Cook as per the dough recipe.
Margherita
Enough for two pizzas
200g Mozzarella
67ml extra virgin olive oil
Salt and ground black pepper
500g ripe fresh tomatoes, seeded and chopped
12 fresh basil leaves
15 ml freshly grated parmesan cheese
1.) Grate the mozzarella coarsely into a bowl and add 30 ml of the olive oil and plenty of pepper. Leave to stand for 1 hour.
2.) Spread the mozzarella and the chopped tomatoes over the pizza dough bases (crusts), sprinkle with the basil leaves and parmesan, then drizzle with the remaining oil.
3.) Cook the dough as per the dough recipe.
I know that anybody can make these pizzas because I've walked people that have never cooked in their lives through the process. It might look like a lot, but it's not difficult and it's enough food to last for a fair while in the fridge.

Go to a friend's place that has a working oven; there's nothing wrong with getting friends involved in cooking and having some fun with it.
I just figured that I'd throw my standard pizza recipe out there for anybody that wanted to try cooking a pizza from scratch; it just didn't warrant a new thread.

pretty much
And it doesn't stick to the pan? (edit: I see now cast iron is naturally nonstick) Hmm, well I guess that's an interesting idea.
lulz, I wonder what would happen if you put a cast iron pan in the microwave.

If you have a stove you could try using that. Or maybe a grill or even a fireplace.

I used to always do it when I was ripped and didn't want to wait for it to cook. Isn't crispy at all and you need to eat it with a knife and fork because it is just to limp. Edible and good though.

Theres special hotplates for microwaves.
I guess they are designed for Pizzas.
Its got a greyish coating or small grey spots on its base.

This isn't the one I was thinking off, but its the same idea.
The Microwaves heat up the grey coating & that cooks the pizza using proper heat while still inside the microwave.
The cheap version is this.
Find a proper supermarket microwave pizza, the cardboard base has the special grey coating on it.
Its probably designed for once only use.
But use it & then use it again & again.
