I will be changing all of the mod positions back to the way they were in mid-October, before the "enigma" admin account got taken over (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2173036) and people started being modded by the folks using that account.

I have nothing against the people who were modded this way. In fact, some of them probably would have been modded anyway and will probably be re-modded by one of the super-mods after I've un-modded them.

So why do I bother?

Because people hacking my spare admin account don't get to say who becomes a mod and who doesn't. They haven't earned the right to make that decision.

Jeff, small correction here: As far as I know, supermods can't mod or demod anyone. It takes a Forum Administrator or higher to do that, given the permissions on this system.

I suppose a reset was the quickest way to do it. Surely if you were here though a few extra minutes looking at a list your forum admins had compiled and then de-modding those who had been "inducted" -or getting them to- into the mod team would've also been an idea?

There's already a lot of moaning about Zok and acidmelt never getting things done quick enough, and with super-mods not being able to bring such things to fruition we could be left with honest mods added the good ol'e fashioned way having to wait aeons to be put back in their respective positions.

The buying up of the nirvananet.org domain was not criminal in itself, but the using of the Enigma account was in fact a hostile action. There's no proof as yet that these events are linked, although the association can hardly be ignored. It is interesting to note that whoever used the Enigma account could have done much more damage than they did, so whoever it was must care about this place to some extent.

What real mystifies me about these mod changes is that, even though I got unwillingly appointed to B&M by the "hacker", I was reported to have done a good job during my tenure, demonstrated that I could be trusted with the position, yet Metaphysicist is getting blasted by a load of work in B&M, SG and BLTC, and I can't get called back in to assist. If they're turning on the management, which *won't* change no matter what you do, then the logical thing to do is leave the site. It might not makes sense to you, but there's nothing to fight for -- the same admins will be in place in the end because Jeff can manipulate the database tables directly if he has to in order to regain control, and Jeff would put the same administrators back into place because *he trusts them*. Thusly, the mod structure would mostly be exactly the same no matter how successful such a revolt became -- and that would leave those that revolted permabanned, for the most part. Sounds like they'd get everything they wished for.

This was always true, but moderation showed a lot more restraint, in general, because there was a core of values and a few rules that were worthy of respect. I generally try to act slowly. If a post is borderline, I almost always leave it. My behavior has been out-of-sorts of late, especially in the afternoon, and I do blame a recent medication change. I'll figure something out.

I have no intention of trying to be the "sick kid", always hypochondriac with some new malady to explain his misbehavior. In this case, I think I'm having a reaction with a medication I'm taking (Ativan), and it's causing me to get odd responses -- almost, if not completely, opposite to what it should cause, and it's kinda fucking me up.

I haven't taken my second dose today, and I'm feeling slightly CALMER, which shouldn't happen. I'm still feeling irritable, wanting to break something or hit someone, but I can handle feeling this way better than the last few days, where it was much more intense. Basically, I was continuously feeling like someone was either attacking me (almost physically) or that I needed to attack them. Maybe that explains some of my behavior a bit?

If I were made an admin, the same would happen with Metaphysicist. There's a reason I was picked: the supermods are reflections of the admins. Both of the SuperMods are on medication and the previous one was as well. From my understanding, a lot of the moderation staff takes regular medication. You can only wish them luck or rip into them; it doesn't change the fact that regular medication is a part of their lives.

My original condition is partially controlled by other, longer acting, meds, so I'm fine for a few days. I should get a notification as to the medication I stopped taking sometime this afternoon.

I won't move the other threads into a new sticky for a reason: I think that would make the thread too large. The 10-page thread rule (at 40 posts/page) is still in effect, and I think I'd have to close the thread as soon as I created it. (NOTE: That means that if a thread has 401 or more posts, it has to be closed.)

Even in the face of that derision, I wanted to let you all know that this "thing" is still going on, in that there is still an individual who is trying to take control of Totse or bring it down. By using various other guises out there in some unnamed places, I have discovered that there is still an individual, who I would rather not identify, who has been quite busy working away in the background. In fact, that person is no doubt reading this right now.

I can only say that I have managed to recover several recently hacked Regular accounts, including the Evil_Tree account (Evil_Tree is one of our Text Files authors, and he posted in SG about getting his account hacked, but nobody paid any attention to it). It appears that this individual is attempting to "prune" off the bulk of Totse's more notable regular and long standing users, in a plan to force administration into making certain forum changes. If anyone has suddenly lost use of their account for no apparent reason, please contact one of the super-moderators at once.

Good rules to live by:

1. Change your password often, and don't make it a password readily found in a brute-force password cracker library-file.

2. Don't publicize your private Totse-related e-mail address in threads or posts, and use another public address for communications on Totse, and don't post your Totse-related e-mail address in your profile, CP notes, blog-sites, MySpace, articles, or any other medium which is open to the general public. You can go back on your previous posts and edit out your Totse-related e-mail address to secure it.

3. When you are on the Internet in general, EXPECT to be socially engineered for information which could lead to an e-mail Security-Question compromise, such as your date of birth, actual city and zip code, favorite movie/sports team/musical group, and don't give out your home phone numbers, address or information on your relatives.

Seems like these things already go without saying, but you'd be very surprised what a determined and persistent individual can accomplish with very little accurate information. It seems to me that you have Totse's best interest as your main agenda, and you want to see a return to the glory years of Totse where the userbase was GROWING and not depleting as we see here under this regime.
