Ok, i was talking to a Social Worker friend (he works with the mentally ill) and some info has just been relased in America that stas that RPG's help to stablise mentally ill people;
apparently the charachter they play in the game can help focus them and take away the thoughts that they are retarded, its kinda complicated but i just want to know;
1. Could RPG's help Mentally ill people in any way.
2. what would be the side effects (if any) of mentally ill people playing Computer games?
3. and finally, can some1 give me a decent list of RPG's available on the market (free or P2P is fine)
If this is in the worng place, please move this thread!
Thanks

There's a movie called BenX. It's a Belgian movie about this autistic kid who plays an MMO called Archlord. You should watch it, it was partially based on a true story.

I can see how an RPG in the hands of a mad retard could be pretty much devastating... no one but a trained soldier should wield a rocket propelled grenade under any circumstances.
Also, retards should be greeting people at wal-mart or working the register at their local thrift store... not playing mindless video-games. Retards are still useful... kind of.

Hit-The-Bong, that's fucked up. you're an idiot.
OP: by "Mentally Ill" I don't think they don't mean people with Mental Disability, as in downsyndrome or anything. they mean people who are depressed, or otherwise...it's not like playing an RPG is going to stop a 'retarted' person from being 'retarted', while they are playing the game. a depressed person may see the RPG as living another life in a way, and take their mind off their own troubles.
