I'm keen to go and buy it. I know, I know, its not the original line-up. Blah blah.
I'm going to find it really hard to listen to it without a biased opinion (come on, Appetite For Destuction is the greatest album of all time :P).
So far, I've heard Shacklets Revenge and Chinese Democracy, and I have to admit it asounds pretty good.
Whats your thoughts totseans?

I downloaded it. Coulda been worse, a lot worse. But it could have came out in like '95 and people would've been like "meh?"
Chinese democracy is the only song on it I liked.
As far as I'm concerned the cd is a piece of shit. I recommend listening it whole before buying it.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - It's just been in the oven too long. It's been layered, tweaked, second-, third-, and fourth-guessed to death. All that's left is a resounding "meh".
the cd is a piece of shit.

no slash = no buy
fux that. the main guitar riff sounds too similar to the one in rock you like a hurricane by the scorpions. i may download it but probably not. i've never liked GnR.
I did really like blind melon tho, axl's brothers band. but shit he's dead and fuck, the wrong kid died.
edit:: but i did get my free dr. pepper out of it. best thing axl rose has done for me his whole life. :)

that's exactly what i thought when i first heard that song. anyway i bought the album i think it's pretty good. a little over produced and too many different guitarists but overall it's a good album. my fav songs on it are "Street of Dreams" (corny ass title) and "Catcher in the Rye"

I like a fair few of the tracks. I really really like the song better, and I like the albums general industrial influence.
It feels weird to call it a GNR album though.
Anyway for all you americans (unless youre slash or buckethead) you can claim a free Dr Pepper.
Think of Watered down old guns and roses but with layers of layers of layers of layers of instruments but idk because I was never really a GnR fan.

I'll buy it, no doubt.
no original line-up? get over it, folks. they were all kicked out for the best of things. if anything, Axl kicked heroin out the group. sure, 15 years is a little uncalled for but everything I've heard so far has been great.
"Sorry" is bad-ass. a little Floyd-ish, with a fuckin' chill guitar solo.

I bought it today, had it playing during work. I'll give it a good listen to tonight. From what I've heard I've liked it. Shacklers revenge is pretty cool.

I'll buy it if I happen to have money to spend at the time of being at Best Buy. I've already had half of it downloaded for like a year. From the songs I have, I really like it, but upon listening to the myspace stream, I didn't think the rest of the songs stood out that much. I probably just need to listen to it over a few times though.

I didn't like it. Although Axl Rose can hit some ridiculously high notes.

It was exactly what I expected; whenever Axl tried to make his new band sound like GnR, I hated it (because I hate GnR) and whenever they were themselves, it was at least alright. I don't think anyone can say it is bad, but it isn't great and certainly wasn't worth the wait. But there are like two or three good songs on it.

Shits all over bands like simple plan though :P

Yeah, definitely. This is right around the bar I set for music. If it is better than Chinese Democracy, it is probably worth a listen. A lot of things aren't.
I listened to it on youtube and I didnt really like it...meh never liked too much GNR except YUI1 and 2...and Appetite4Des. "sorry and chinese dem" are the only 2 good songs...if you can call it that... bah..no buy from me
I'm going to buy it when I get the chance, I'm not a cheap and bitchy musical snob.
so whos new album is worse- ac/dc or guns and roses? lol

My vote is Guns 'n' Roses, the AC/DC album was pretty mediocre, but not actually bad. This was just a bad, bad album.

why the fuck would i buy some old dickwad's rehashed songs that were never very good in the first place?
i think i'll buy something new and interesting instead, because i'm a forward thinking person.

that is pure genius there hasn't been lyrical depth like that since axle rose died in the elevator on the way to a show from alcohol and opiate overdose and was brought back to life

Shannon Hoon is not Axls brother, they were childhood friends.
And for the record, if you were really into old GnR and decided not to buy the album because you heard some shitty quality leak, think again. The album sounds awesome and no myspace stream or crappy mp3 can speak for it.
I'm listening to it for the fourth time right now and its growing on me more and more. Sure its over produced as fuck, everything is super glossy, and at times it sounds like theres just to much going on in each track. Axl has a terrific sense of harmony and it feels like he tried to fit to much into each song. All the songs change their feel at least once.
Also at some parts theres a "what the fuck" moment, like why would Axl put this guitar part here or why does that drum beat sound the way it does, but give it a second listen and you may change your mind.
Does it live up to the hype? No
Is it worth what it cost to make it? Maybe to Axl, but not anyone else.
Most of the guitar parts are face melting, and the whole album is arranged beautifully. At first I thought the song writing was subpar compared to Axls older songs but even the lyrics have grown on me a bit.
I dont know, Guns and Roses changed my fucking life when I was 13. Axl is one of my favorite musicians and I will (probably) continue to follow everything he does. When you listen to it dont think of old GnR because its not that. Its Axl's child. Something completely different. It wont change any lives, the way AFD did.
I don't like it all that much, Chinese Democracy is the only song I can really say I liked at all, and even that was not anything special.
And to those saying they aren't any good without Slash...what the fuck? Slash wasn't even any good...he does have a cool name though I guess.
