I just ordered a flashcard with a 2gb MicroSD card ($15, not bad)... And was wondering, what are some cool things I can do with the DS?

I know I can put Linux on it, but are there any particularily good homebrew softwares?

They have 8 gig micro sd's now for 25 bucks. I remember when I bought a 1 gig micro sd card for my envy phone like last year or whatever for 60 fucking dollars :0

DSOrganise (http://www.dragonminded.com/?loc=ndsdev/DSOrganize). It has a file explorer, media player and a nice little web browser. Some other cool stuff too.

I thought the linux sucked. The most you can get out of it is maybe create/move/rename a file. Oh and if you go through the set up, you might be able to ping google.

Other than that I put Doom (http://www.dsdoom.com/) on it and plenty of 'backed-up' games. Almost all of which I didn't enjoy. :(

I got a PSP instead. :)

Edit: Oh and how could I forget; emulators.

Thanks for the links. I have a PSP too, but to be honest, I'm more a fan of my DS (although Metal Gear was pretty good).

What emulators do they have for the DS? (I'm assuming NES/SNES?, but any others...)

TI'm assuming NES/SNES?

That's about it really, it's just not powerfull enough to run much more. Though i'd like to be proved wrong.

Yeah, I don't suppose you can do too much with a 66mhz and a 33mhz processor, lol...

you can get genesis and gameboy color emulators for slot 1 cards.

there's more powerful stuff out there like a ds homebrew version of quake, but i think you have to buy a memory expansion in order to get programs like that to work.

dunno...the homebrew community for ds is kinda dead lately. i use dsorganize sometimes, but i havn't found much out there that interests me. lately i just use my flashcart for downloading ds roms. :p

http://gbatemp.net is a pretty good source for ds homebrew. you should probly check it out.

edit: i almost forgot. my favorite ds homebrew is this program that translates jump ultimate stars into engrish. it's one of the best fighters on ds...kinda like smash bros but with anime characters. sadly, due to licensing problems, you'll never see an official release in america.

the english translation project isn't perfect, but it makes the game a lot more playable than the japanese version.

step 1: download this (http://www.dohgames.com/roms/view/ds/J/Jump!_Ultimate_Stars_(J)).

step 2: go here (http://deufeufeu.free.fr/wiki/index.php?title=JUS_Translation)
download dpspatcher.exe and the latest dps patch. follow the instructions on the page.
