View Full Version : Classical piano recommendations please
Im just looking for some good classic piano music, I like songs that are beautiful and smooth sounding like the moonlight sonata, but I also like songs like Chopin's Etude Op. 10, No. 12 in C Minor.
The classic songs im listening to right now are:
Beethoven:
moonlight sonata
ode to joy (choral)
Chopin:
Etude Op. 10, No. 12 in C Minor
Raindrops prelude
Polonaise in A flat
Nocturne in G minor
thats pretty much it actually... i dont know many good piano players since ive never really looked before! I just like classical piano because i can chill out and relax and do my homework while listening to it :)
Thanks for any responses!

get Claire De lune. my favorite piano piece by far. There is a version on youtube of David Oistrakh playing a solo violin with a modified piano arragement, it's divine.

This isn't by far my favorite version but is my all time favorite classical piece.

First things in my head from "beautiful and smooth" were Claude Debussy's Claire De Lune and Erik Satie's Gymnopedia No. 1.

If you like these then you should look into romantic/impressionist music. Rachmaninov would be a very good composer to listen too for piano music in this style.
You should also get the following Beethoven piano sonatas:
No. 17 in D minor, Op. 31, No. 2, "The Tempest"
No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57, "Appassionata"
No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, "Pathetiqué"

Sonata Pathetique is better than Moonlight Sonata IMO TBQH. If you like Beethoven piano, you should listen to it.
