View Full Version : How much do you spend on clothes

Im talking average price for various items of clothing. Not the 80% Gucci shirt you picked up.

For me:

Shoes: Around 60 for running/all purpose shoes. Under 120 for nice sneakers (lacoste, etc.). Around 60 for dress shoes

Pants: Jeans no more than 40 usually I get them on sale for 20 or 30.

Button up shirts: 50 tops. Usually 30.

T-shirts: usually 20, more if its nice

Suits: Around 200. Dess shirts 30, ties no more than 20.

I like spending money on things that I'll get lots of use out of. I bought this winter a $350 coat. I use it a fuckload during winter and it should last well over 5 years.

Shoes: 40 bucks on average. But I recently got these blank white cloth shoes and drew on them for 10$. Been wearing them almost everyday.

Pants: 20 bucks

Shirts: 15 bucks

Sweaters/Outer clothing 15-35. Maybe 50 for a jacket.

Suits: Fuck suits.

I know how to shop cheap but shop in style/quality/awesomeness

Protip for stock advice, when times are good, load up on gold and commodities, when times are bad sell commodities and gold, micromanage your stocks, and grab a few buy and holds to be sold when times are doing good.

Doesn't everything lower in value when times are bad?
Unless there isn't much of it, like oil.

I mean food and fuel costs went up not so long ago in order to avoid a 'credit crunch', but not we've hit that crunch everything is going down so that people buy more.
Like if a costs £2, then goes down to £1.50; people will buy 2, so the company has only lost out on £1 but people are still buying - better than no-one buying anything, 'cos that means no profit for anyone.

Shoes: Around $70 per pair, though my favorite Nikes I've caught on sale for $59 before.

Pants: Blue jeans are only $8.00 at the local Wal-Mart.

Shirts: $8 to $15 per t-shirt, mostly at local concerts. Double that for a dress shirt.

Gold and metals go up when times are bad.

gold has gone up by commodities i mean metals specifically, copper, gold, platinum, oil and food tends to be too random

Technically true but that doesn't explain why other countries are paying multiple times the amount we in the U.S. do for a gallon of gasoline.

What does explain it? Anticipated profit and taxes.

But you certainly know how to waste money on simple clothing items like jeans and t-shirts, then skimp on the classy shit like a suit. You spend more on a pair of jeans or shoes than a suit? Shame, fucking shame.

QFT.

I noticed there is some invalidity in this thread. Prices differ from country to country. I noticed this when someone from the states said they 60 bucks for shoes. 60 dollar shoes in states=100 dollar shoes in canada. No lie, I always buy clothes when I go to US and A

Edit: Gas and Oil are too very different things that are linked. In Venezuela I filled a locals truck for less than 3 bucks. However Oil is the same price there and here. If I bought Oil 10 years ago it was 10 bucks. Fuck me, I'd be buying 1000 shirts as well.

Who says I waste money on clothing? You seem to have simply ignored 'YOU CAN'T BUY STYLE' statement at the bottom of my post. The suit is nice, it's from River Island. If I were to blow a couple of grand on a SUIT, then THAT would be wasting money. You can't quote me, I win at fashion.

I used to work at a place that rents and sells tuxedos and suits. I've seen River Island's product line, it's shit and I wouldn't go so far as to even wipe my ass with it.

You want stylish? Joseph Abboud all the fucking way.

And if you "can't buy style," then why are you spending such ridiculous amounts of money on what should be inexpensive clothing? Nobody gives a shit about your Evisu denim, it's fucking ugly.

international oil prices are for a barrel of crude.

What you pay at the at the pump, includes cost of refining oil, wages involved in refining it, maintainance, and has to do with consumers willingness to pay.

It just depends on where I'm buying the clothes from. Logo tshirts/dress shirts/polo shirts can be anywhere between $30-50, jeans $50-70 sometimes a little more, twill or fleece pants $40-50, belts usually leather $30-40, sweaters- hoodies- jackets- coats anywhere between $35-70 sometimes a little more, and the shoe prices vary because I wear different things. Flip flops, uggs, Sperrys, sometimes Shox, etc. Then my panties and bras are usually around the ranges of $35-60.

You fail at being older than 14.

I get my jeans usually from thrift stores because I like broken in jeans and they are cheap. Usually no more than $7. Sometimes when I am going to a nice place that is casual I'll go buy some new jeans, usually no more than $40, max.

I wont spend more than $25 on a shirt and when I do it is very, very rare. Usually in the $15 range.

I haven't bought a new pair or regular shoes in over 2 years. The ones I got now were given to me by a friend. The last pair I bought were probably $80 but lasted me about 2 years. My work boots cost me $120 and I haven't bought new ones in 4 years.

I don't really wear suits but I have a new job coming up and I just went out and bought some dress pants ($50), tie ($17), belt ($10), shoes ($45), and a couple of shirts ($20 each). We'll see how that changes when/if I get that job and with a higher income better quality clothes (and more expensive, I suppose) will be purchased.

If they're made of leather or black cloth then I'd have to agree with you, too Modish, or the individual wearing such wants to be the next Columbine shooter.

However surplus military coats of wool in olive drab are quite nice.

I've got a couple of pairs of shoes. Sneakers that are around 100 each.

Most of my t-shirts really vary. American Apparel shirts are like $20 each. Most of my other t-shirts are between like $20-40. I do own a couple Lacoste Polo's @ about $100 each. I just got another New Era that cost $45.

Most of my jeans are Levi's that are regular priced at about $80 a pair, but I think I've managed to get most of them at about half price. I own alot of hoodies that were between $50 to $100 each and assorted shirts and long sleeves at different prices.

I've probably ot about 6 good pairs of shorts. One are Tommy Bahama's that were marked down to $40 from $140. Most of the other pairs were about $40.

My winter coat was a little over 200 and the fall windbreaker I'm wearing now was about $100. My Dakine knapsack was $60.

So yeah, I spend quite a bit on clothes, but not a ridiculous amount.

But I gotta ask: how do you live? Cause I've been reading many articles about young people that had been making six-figures in their early twenties, but spending on clothes, decking out apartments, and champagne, spending and not saving and are getting screwed by market losses and Wall street layoffs.

even if i had the means to spend what superspeedz does on clothing i wouldnt waste it, people look at people dressed like him and wonder how many dicks he has had in his ass this week. i would spend my money on stuff that is nice but not metrosexual (i.e. nice cars, fancy bottles of alcohol).. other than that i would live modestly. i don't ever want a 2 story house, i just want to take care of my family and live without stressing about money.

Honestly, it can range from something found at the thrift store for a dollar to $300 for a pair of jeans. I'm not ridiculous - no $250 T shirts - however if I want something bad I will get it. It balances itself out with the secondhand stuff and more expensive clothes in the long run.

Sounds to me like he's more of a business man and dresses like so. I've never looked at any man wearing a nice suit and wondered how many dicks he's had up his ass that week?

Most people who wear suits are above the age of 16, therefore have a real job and part of having that job requires them to dress the part, ie: no t-shirts, sneakers, or even cutoff shorts.
