Do any of you have one? If so which one? I just use the mouse that came with my pre assembled pc, But I seem to do alright with it. What do you look for in a gaming mouse? whats brands are respectable?

i never understood the reason or purpose of buying a mouse that's specially made just for gaming. seems like a waste of money to me.

is a gaming mouse going to make you pwn n00bs that much harder? is it? really?

Well, I can say from experience (and tragically having to down-grade due to an over-emotional woman of a brother), that the switch from optical to laser isn't that noticable... but laser to optical after you get used to the laser mouse it feels like you're down-grading from optical to a ball-mouse.

It really is that much more precise and easy to move around. Especially if you get one of those artistic-mice that has two laser in it and you can get exact movements out of it.

Don't get me wrong, I'll whoop anyones ass with an optical, laser, dual laser, or a fucking quantum mouse capable of microscopic movements... i don't care, its not the tool... its how you use it.

the differences i've noticed between laser and optical mice are barely noticeable in my opinion, but meh. i guess i could understand that.

i've seen some pretty weird shit as far as gaming mice go. "professional" gaming mice with things like weights you can add for extra balance, craploads of buttons, extra lasers, and even a ball replacing the scrolling wheel. some of them look pretty badass with lights and stuff but i don't rly see the need for all that extra stuff unless you're playing in tournaments for shitloads of cash.

me, i guess i just like my setup to be as simple as possible when i'm playing games.

I've got a Logitech G9.

Love it.

Like.

Srsly.

Anyway, I find it to be a really nice mouse, the changeable grip is nice and the 'rougher' one suits RTSs better in my experience. Set it with a ballanced 16grams of weight right now and the DPI settings are great for playing as marksman on Insurgency.

Totally agreed, the lights and useless non-mouse components are bullshit... but customizeability is cool... I've often wondered why they don't put a (clickable) ball where the wheel is.

But I guess if you really like gaming, like J.P. from Grandma's boy, then I guess the whole nerd set-up would be cool to have.

I liken gaming mice to spinner wheels on a car.

I've got a Habu. Shaped like a Microsoft mouse, but with the guts and nice big buttons of a Razer. I go nuts trying to browse the web if I don't have my back/forward buttons, and I've found the instant speed adjustments very handy at times. It suits me well.

Except a spinner wheel does absolutely nothing to improve your car's performance, whereas a good mouse is quantifiably better than your average pack-in piece of shit. I remember when I went from my shitty HP wireless to my MX510, it was like night and day. Then I went from my MX510 to my Copperhead, and it was also a noticeably big leap.

To the OP, I'd suggest going into a store and getting a feel for the mice. I believe Best Buy usually has a set up where you can see how they feel in your hand. Pick whichever one has the best specs and feels the best in your hand. I'm a fan of the Razer's smaller, lighter bodies, which allow for fingertip control and quick movements, but many people prefer the Logitech's larger, palm-held bodies. Just a matter of preference.

I'm using the MX Revolution. I've got this thing set up great. The thumb scrollwheel is for volume/click for mute, I can use the thumb buttons for PushToTalk in games (one for in-game like Steam, one for Skype/Vent), and I still have my L,R,scroll, and scroll clicks for gaming.

Plus wireless. It's great. :]

You got me wrong, brah... I meant as in, you can spend your money on getting a dual laser mouse, without the bells and whistles and be much better off than if you spent it on a mouse with lights and gadgets you don't need, etc... most FPS's aren't THAT in depth with the control schemes, so a simple mouse with 2 or 3 buttons on the sides and a clickable wheel should take care of all your needs, with money better spent than on a more poorly made, but flashier mouse with lights and changing parts and weights... etc...

The only thing I can see making a mouse better is a small flat place for your pinky to sit that slides over the surface you're on. I find that my finger kind of sticks to the material my desk is made out of (varnished pine). Anything that makes your hand touch the desk slows you down.

lol, I'm sure its already made, somewhere.

Either that, or make the mouse slightly taller, with weights on the bottom (so as to make it want to keep up-right). I have big hands, so these normal-sized mice are kind of small... almost as if it was made in Asia somewhere...

You're making the assumption that the flashier, more expensive mouse is somehow poorly made. Razer and Logitech both make excellent quality peripherals, and I can guarantee you'd see how much they put lesser mice to shame if you actually used one.

And I find this quite funny, because many of the more expensive mice you're talking about have this feature. The way you're supposed to hold a Copperhead leaves no part of your hand touching the mousepad, which is why I love it's shape and feel.

I'm poor white trash... can't afford a good (like a razer) mouse. I was lucky to get the laser mouse I had, but my brothers a worthless dick and broke it.

I just can't see what difference a "weighted" mouse makes... nor lights... nor 50984 programmable buttons.

Don't get me wrong... if you have a little bit of disposable income, you should buy the highest quality shit you can possibly afford... but if you're like me, you probably don't have a lot of money left over after living expenses... so you gotta take into account strictly performance and to hell with flashy useless features that don't actually give you any kind of performance boost.

Also, from everything I've experienced, wired mice pwn harder than wireless mice.

OpiateSeclorum868

I just can't see what difference a "weighted" mouse makes... nor lights... nor 50984 programmable buttons.

Well see, I agree with you wholeheartedly on this point. Weights are just extraneous bullshit in my opinion, because I'd just take them out and never use them since I prefer a lighter mouse. Lights are also unnecessary, but they do enhance the visual aspects in some cases. As for buttons, well, as long as i have two side buttons and a mousewheel click I'm good. More buttons don't detract, but I don't need them.

Also, from everything I've experienced, wired mice pwn harder than wireless mice.

This is also true.

Honestly, this is really what Razer is all about for the most part. Just straight to the point wired mice with excellent form factors and top of the line internals. They do have lights, but they don't go overboard with things like weight kits or transforming shapes like other manufacturers.

I use a generic Logitech optical mouse with 3 buttons and a scroll wheel, and no mouse pad. It's small and light, and I've had it since 2001. It's supposed to be white colored, but it's actually more of a beige now...

Anyway, I'm really glad alexander224 made this thread, because I have been wanting to upgrade for a while. I asked for a new model Logitech G5 and a RAZER gaming mouse pad for Christmas. I highly considered getting a RAZER Copperhead, but I decided on the Logitech since it seemed more durable, and it has adjustable weights. It also has up to 2000 dpi, and on the fly adjustable settings like the RAZER.

I HOPE I GET IT! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104076

The only thing I don't like about the Kensington is that the scroll whell teeth degrade after about a year of heavy abuse and the drivers don't let you adjust the USB refresh rate. Seriously, I was tearing shit up when I reinstalled Windows and forgot my mouse drivers. I would have left them off but Microsoft's drivers kept lagging my game.

Mainly Counter-Strike: Source. I use to play WoW. And I use to play WC III and JK II: JO a shit ton. I wouldn't say I'm some extraordinary player, but I'm definitely not bad.

Yeah, I don't even understand what's fun about stupid trolling like this. I can understand saying shit to get people riled up, but lying about buying a mouse? What the hell is the point of that?

Not really trying to troll. I just wanted to bring this funny looking mouse I saw you guy's attention and I figured it would be funnier to deliver the package in the form I chose rather than,"Hey buddies look at this silly lookin' mouse saw today on the internet ^_^!!."

I hope you bought it just for the sake of your awesome joke.

It was definitely funny enough to warrant $60.
