when i was younger i wrote the president and told him of me and my friends plan to take over antarctica. stupid, i know. i did get a letter back though and it did have his signature. i cant remember what it said and i cant find it so i cant examine it to determine the likelihood of it actually being his signature or if his reply showed any indication of weather or not my letter was even read.

so does anyone know the likelihood of him actually getting it?

He is busy running a country, do you really think he has time to read every letter from every dumbass kid who writes to him?

I can't tell if this is a serious question or not, but I'll bite anyway.

All communications addressed to the President/Prime Minister of a country go to his/her personal office staff. Most are replied to by the office staff, but if it is actually deemed interesting enough to get to the President it's likely there will be more of a song and dance than just a letter back, as it is the perfect opportunity for some PR of the baby-kissing ilk.

i guess what i should have asked is if i get a letter back with the presidents signature, what are the chances of it actually being his signature and his thoughts and not a rubber stamp? if i get a letter back, and it is made to look like it is an actual reply from the actual president, with his actual signature, is it safe to assume it is actually from the president? or does his staff or whoever have authority to express the presidents views for him and label (with the presidents signature) the reply as if it was actually written by the president?

it seems to me that any document signed by the president would HAVE to be read by the president because of the fact that his signature conveys to the reader that the views expressed in the letter are his own and if a news station were to air a message wich was signed by the president and from the white house, the letter would serve as a primary source and the president would have a lot of explaining to do if his signature was on a whole bunch of letters from the white house but he had no idea what the letters said.

I heard about someone saying something like this, which I would never recommend.

If you really want to get his attention, write something like:

Dear President of the United States,

I'm going to kill you, you little bitch.

Just kidding. Hey seriously, what is your deal?

Signed, Otis B. Driftwood.

Actually, the secret service doesn't show threat letters to their protectees, as per their policies.

more than likely its not the president who wrote you or his actual signature, since the sig itself was probably made into a stamp. people do read your letters though, so dont write anything too seditious, neh?
