Pretty epic to be honest. Less of the kinda music you'd listen to at a party. It's really soft, mellow, and sad.

Welcome to Heartbreak is the best song IMO

Opinions?

FUCK AUTOTUNE.

hehe, notice that this kind of music (rappers singing) didn't come out till after the advent of autotune?

My 2 cents on Kanye. his rapping is almost always shitty as fuck, i think his lyrics are respectable at best and his flow is horrific. as a producer however i think he is one of the best in the game at the moment. his beats are always pretty close to perfection (except when he sampled that daft punk song, how the fuck are you going to sample a song that IS a sample already?!?! i thought that was an unwritten rule). anyways, as a producer he is very very talented and thats why that new cd is pretty impressive in my opinion.

he has geared it more towards an aesthetic sound rather than just being a hip hop artist. a lot more beats that you can appreciate and besides the fact that vocoders are going out of style and everyone is still abusing them like crazy it's a pretty decent cd.

I love this C.D. I actually already made a thread on this topic.
Paranoid is def the best track on the C.D. Robocop was my favorite, but it got changed, the leaked version was so much better.

except the fact that gnarles barkley fucking sucks. C-Lo is a badass MC don't get me wrong but he took his little persona too fucking far with that cd. who does he think he is garth brooks?

$20 says that most people who buy the album don't know what an 808 is.

I might be mistaken, but it's a drum machine isn't it?

Anywa, I absolutely cannot stand auto-tunes, they just annoys the every-living-piss out of me.

The Roland 808 was the first bigtime music synthesizer IIRC. And I also hate all this automatic, computer controlled shit that sells Top 40 records. These motherfucks haven't got SHIT.
And I hate to say it, but Rhianna is an awesome singer. It's a shame people like her are having their vocals butchered by tasteless faggots. Then tis all projects onto the fucking youth who just lap it up. Sometimes I wish we could drop an A bomb and start afresh.

Actually you're both right. The TR-808 is just a drum machine (and a fantastic one at that), which is what I bet Kanye is referring to.. But theres also the MC-808, which is its synth/drummachine predecessor which can also sample (I think).

Nothing can beat the BD of a nice 808.

The album was recorded in under two weeks in Hawaii. As implied by its title, 808s & Heartbreak prominently features the Roland TR-808 drum machine. West felt that the 808 is an important instrument that can be used to evoke emotion; the concept was introduced to him by Jon Brion. According to West, the fact that Hawaii's area code was "808" was incidental, as he had already developed the album's title before being informed
