Do you pour some out to the side and dip food in it or do you pour it over the top of the food.
I'm a dipper

Depends.
Leftover meatloaf and Macaroni and cheese, I'll just drizzle some on top.
French fries, I'll dip.
I don't really use ketchup that much anymore.
French fries I'll dip, burgers I'll often put some on and dip.

If it's a fingerfood you're naturally inclined to dip. Think about it. All other cases I not so much drizzle, but drench, my food in Tomato Sauce.
Only use the stuff if it's convenience food though. Has no place in reputable cuisine.

It depends, with homemade chips I don't put anything on them, they're so good that masking the taste with a crappy sauce would be wasting them.
With store bought fries though, I usually just dip.

I double penetrate the ketchup with food.
This depends whether or not I'm planning on using a fork.

Ketchup is ok.
Brown Sauce is the daddy though. Whack it on everything. In fact I really don't understand people who put ketchup on bacon sarnies.
I don't know if brown sauce is very popular over in the states. My brother lives over there so Ill ask him:confused:

I agree with you, I'm not even British but I think bacon must be eaten with brown sauce, ketchup on a bacon sammie is just wrong.

It's not. I didn't even know what it was until I was told about it by an English girl. It was hard to find, but I did eventually get a bottle of it. It's definitely an acquired taste because of the malt vinegar. If it tasted how it smells it'd be pretty much the best thing ever.

HP sauce. Love it hate it.. ..made in Holland by Heinz. The American equivalent is supposed to be A1 Steak Sauce.

There it is...the daddy of all sauces. HP is quality but my favourite brand of brown sauce is Chop.

No. H.P. sauce smells like steak sauce, but it is an acquired taste 'cause of that nasty malt vinegar they put in it.

Not sure what this thread is about, but Worcestershire Sauce is something that Americans are missing out on.
^^^I'm sure I've seen american tv chefs use it.

Yeah Worcestershire sauce is pretty widely used and I have seen it used many a time in American recipes.
Does wonders in casseroles/stews etc.
Both Worcestershire and Brown Sauce (HP) use tamarind as one the main components of flavouring as well as similar spices so they are pretty similar.
HP and A1 are quite dissimilar despite their comparisons. HP is only sometimes considered a steak sauce because of its likening to A1 over in the states and Canada to be fair. The most notable differences between the two sauces are that HP uses malt vinegar as opposed to distilled vinegar used in A1. Also HP takes a large part of it's flavour from molasses and apples (hence it's compatibility with pork) while A1 has a more citrus fruit flavour from the use of orange during production.
Dunno what inspired me to inform you all of this. Probably how good HP is on bacon sarnies....

When I do put ketchup on something I generally don't use much.
If it's a sandwich or a hot dog I'll spread it on, but for anything else I pour it on the plate and dip.

I don't know anyone who doesn't know what Worcestershire sauce is, but I only know a couple people who know how to pronounce it. I can't pronounce it properly 'cause it's such a fucked up word.

That really doesn't sound 'right' at all. It doesn't even have the shire part of Worcestershire in it!

im a dipping man, otherwise i just end up with more than i want
If there's a fine tip on a ketchup bottle, I'll put a few thin lines of ketchup on my fries. If not, I probably won't bother with the stuff.
I haven't had HP sauce in a long time; I can't really remember the flavour.
