View Full Version : What is your cocktail of choice?

For me, it depends on what mood I'm in.

If I'm lookin to get slammed, I usually just pound white rum presses with a bit of coke. If I'm just having a couple, I'll usually spring for a Ceasar or two.

On any given Sunday, I can also be found drinking White Russians or Screwdrivers.

Nasty hangovers call for Bailey's in my breakfast cereal. :)

Irish Cream over cereal doesn't strike me as a cocktail...

:D

Martini, extra dry would be mine, I think. Finding someone to make it properly is even better.

I'm kind of a picky guy when it comes to my martinis.

As suave as it would make me feel, I've never enjoyed a martini.

I've fucking tried, but all I can ever think is perfume.

Hmmm... I think a green apple martini does the job.

I'm a big fan of the proper martini, vermouth and gin complete with an olive.

The Vesper from Casino Royale is also quite tasty.

Though most of the time I honestly prefer a glass of whiskey straight.

I love love Screwdrivers with pink lemonaide instead of OJ.

I'm not much of a 'cocktail' kinda girl, but as far as mixed drinks go I usually drink whisk and rootbeer. Quite good, quite good.

Manhattan, Or a white russian. By far my favorites. If I am going for binge drinking cocktails, it would be either whiskey and coke, or whiskey and orange soda.

whiskey and orange soda.

Interesting, I'll have to try this.

Rum and coke does it for me.

White russians are really good too, I just can't drink too many of them at once. Too much cream.

My usual at home is either a screwdriver (im not picky about brand) or rye and a bit of ginger ale. I'm a wisers deluxe drinker.

Best tasting girly drink that I had recently was Cream soda and vanilla vodka. Mmmmm girly.

Really, just rum / whiskey and coke. The whiskey is usually Wiser's, or Crown Royal if I feel like spending a bit more. Bacardi or Lamb's does it for rum. I'm not a huge fan of elaborate cocktails at all. I'll even go so far as to say I actually don't like Caesars. I like simple cocktails with a max of 2-3 ingredients.

The Vesper Martini. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel. Its from Casino Royale and I ended up trying it after I saw it in the movie
needles to say its my favorite drink now.

Is Diesel considered a cocktail?

As in;
- Cider.
- Lager.
- Blackcurrent cordial.

That's actually my favourite drink ever. Reminds me of being a kid drinking Vimto :D

It's a fucking drink. Some people have serious issues with things being masculine or feminine, don't worry about it. You know who else does?

The French.

Think about that.

Manhattan.

I'm with you on this. If I'm at a function where I'm in a collared shirt and tie (which happens significantly less frequently than it used to), an extra dry martini was my apertif, and generally a sweet Manhattan (with bourbon, dammit! None of that brandy or Canadian whisky garbage! I'm a purist!) is my dessert drink after a good steak.

I like to put a short dash of cherry juice in my manhattans. Not much, just a little drop along with the bitters.

Fuck yes, and people who make Manhattans without bitters are committing BLASPHEMY.

A Manhattan is the only acceptable cocktail for bourbon, IMO. None of that Highball, Old Fashioned-fruity shit.

Best Manhattan I've had was made with Elijah Craig 18 y.o., for what it's worth.

Agreed. I think a single rock would've been just fine with that particular bourbon.

Well I was at a friend's house, and he served me a Manhattan, and it was good, so I inquired about his choice of bourbon, and that was the answer. Did manage to enjoy some on the rocks following that, though.

As far as aged bourbons go, Black Maple Hill 21 y.o. is tough to beat assuming you're not going to cough up around $180-$200 for a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 23. The Maple Hill will still hit your wallet at about $100, though, but IMO it's certainly worth it for special occasion purposes.

60ml Maker's Mark
30ml Amaretto (or less)
An orange
Martini glass
Zippo style lighter

Take a big piece of orange peel, cut a few slits in it and run it around the inside and rim of a full size martini glass. pour the booze in. Twist a piece of the orange peel so it spits the volatile oils onto the surface of the booze. After one or two sprays, do a couple through the flame of the lighter. It looks cool and adds a burnt orange flavour.

No idea what it's called. I picked it up from a bartender down South.
