I have about 48 pounds of KNO3 of which I can't find much use for. Asides from making flash, smoke mixtures, nitric acid, sugar rockets and other low grade explosives I have nothing to do with it. Are there any decent to good explosives that have KNO3 as the primary ingredient? Can you mix it with fuel oil like ANFO?

you can make nitric acid which is needed to make many high explosives
such as gun cotton, nitroglycerin, nitro-starch basically its needed for nitration

if you want to do this kinda stuff i suggest you do some research, look around on the site im sure you will find something, or use google.

Why don't you try your hand at some real fireworks? Mill a whole bunch of BP, make many lbs of stars, make many lbs of filler material, make some nice bigger shells.

Yeah that seems like the only thing there is to do with it though. This stuff gets boring after a while, good thing it only cost me $15.

Mixing KNO3 with ANFO is pointless since KNO3 is an oxidiser that can be used in conjunction with other chemicals for the purpose of pyrotechnics and is not actually an explosive.

There's tons of fun stuff to do with KNO3, mostly pure pyro which takes some getting into though.
Me I'd be worried being caught with that much chems on hand ... it'd look pretty bad if you ask me.

I am going to be making some black powder, I have some spare KNO3 from when I thought I was leet for making smokebombs (lulz). I just bought some sulphur off internets, should come in a few days.

Now I gotta find me some charcoal...

If you don't have a ball mill (complete with lead or brass milling media)... Expect the resulting black powder to be shit. "CIA" method sucks.

If your going to use the powder for lifting shells... Many take their dry meal powder straight from the mill, dampen it very slightly with 50/50 isopropyl/water, then force it through a sieve to make granules.

Another, generally better way is to dampen it, then press it in a hydrallic press into pucks with a certain optimum density... Can't remember what that density is off hand... Then you let the pucks dry for how ever long it takes to make them sound like porcelain when struck and break them up into little granules.
