LIKE GRAND THEFT AUTO?
LIKE PRETENDING YOU'RE A GANGSTER?
LIKE KILLING PEOPLE
THEN SZR NIG PERSON OF AFRICAN HERITAGE KILLING SIMULATOR 2.0 IS FOR YOU!!!
SA-MP Server:
72.232.254.202:6777
MTA server
NOT READY YET
What is SZR?
SZR is Secret Zombie Room, a Grand Theft Auto San Andreas roleplay RPG server, and we need more totseans to help reap pubbie tears! Recently the server's been in a lull because of the unstable nature of the SA-MP developers, so we're trying to breathe life into the server again.
With the onset of an MTA version of SZR in the near future, anything done on this server until then is temporary. Once we move completely onto MTA it'll be a fresh slate and with the exception of bans, nothing you've done on this server will matter on the next one.
ROLE PLAYING?! drat SON I AIN'T DOING NO FAGGOT ROLEPLAYING
Calm the gently caress down champ, there ain't no roleplaying unless you're a giant faggo who clicked this OP for the "roleplay" part and NOT the "grand theft auto" part. There's about as much roleplaying as there is in any standard MMO you've played in that killing everyone and everything doesn't get you far at all and is mostly used as an excuse for everyone to gank you to hell and back. Doing retarded poo poo is a surefire way to open up a can of worms that usually ends in you ragequitting amidst a maelstrom of comedy.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, roleplaying is welcome but just don't be a prudent rear end about it because that usually ends in the outcome outlined above, so just keep cool about things, keep it real and you'll be fine.
Things are pretty chilled out and you can get away with not RPing at all as long as you're not a DMing faggot. I'm one of the oldest members and I still think the concept of RPing is funny, I just act myself and kill people when it's called for, and I've gotten on fine. As long as you treat it like any other standard MMO, you will be fine, because that's what it is.
When we say roleplaying, we mean:
- Things like levels, jobs and cash.
- Bleeding. If you're shot and don't get treatment, you'll slowly bleed to death.
- Guns aren't abundant, nor bought from ammunation. They're player made, which enforces an economy, and curbs DMing.
- Players have houses.
- Huge gangs with their own car spawns, headquarters with bars, etc
- Controllable materials points (more on this later)
- Killing's mostly excused if the victim was black
http://szrgta.com/sa-mp-082.gif - Pubbie army
Okay, so this isn't hardcore roleplay. What does this mean?
In any PVP MMO, it usually isn't a good idea to make it a point to piss off guilds of people much more powerful and wealthier than you. You'll be incurring the wrath of a thousand angry wannabe gangster goons that will gently caress your poo poo up.
- THINK before killing someone. Think about the repercussions of your action and the consequences it may bring. While dying is merely an inconvenience, the significance sticks and people will be more than happy to use it as an excuse to gently caress you over.
- REMEMBER what comes around goes around. Go around exhibiting bad karma and things will align against you. When your "psycho killer" character hasn't worked out and you're too poor to buy any guns to defend yourself against those you've pissed off, don't expect the cops to help you as they'll likely have heard about your antics and 9/10 will be helping them.
- MONEY is the focal point of the game, use it wisely. Once you're in debt it's a pit difficult to dig your way out given the circumstances that'll have gotten yourself into it in the first place.
This is easily summed up by:
- If you must kill someone, there has to be a valid reason - if you're in a gang it's easier to justify killing poo poo than if you were a civilian.
Waiting for the green light to jump out the plane
So what makes this server different from any other?
- Controllable materials points. To put this into perspective, the biggest point battle I've seen was when the Mafia went up against 5 gangs over a battle that lasted four hours. poo poo gets epic.
- Businesses (Taken out, soon to be added again.)
- Advanced cheat detection
- Focus on comedy; if it's funny, it'll fly (MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE SERVER!)
- Insane taxi drivers
- Arms dealers have access to more guns.
- Admins that frequently interfere with ingame events in the name of comedy
- Drama. Lots of it.
So what is there for me to do?
- There are gangs. Huge ones. - Whether it be the Mafia that's so organised they're practically German, to the happy-go-lucky Aztecas or the savage Grove Street hoodlums, there's always a space for someone and always a spot to be filled. They're hives for character building and a lot of our best players built their persona around their experiences in gangs.
- There are task specific jobs - Simple ones that can bring in extra cash depending on how you use it, and more importantly give you unique skills that are invaluable in a gang situation. Jobs are as listed: Wheelman (Pilot/Mechanic), Mercenary (find anyone on the map instantly), Arms Dealer (Do materials runs and make guns), and Drug Dealer.
- Griefing - This can usually be accomplished in a gang, but pulling off creative griefs that don't involve killing everyone usually are encouraged. Be it scamming someone out of millions of dollars, constantly steamrolling an enemy pubbie gang, stealing people's cars at far off mat points, or other creative ways to reap pubbie tears, if it's in good humor it'll be okay. If it isn't, you'll get shat on.
99% of the time, if you don't join a gang there won't be a lot for you to do unless you're extremely creative. So it's recommended you join one.
You mentioned gangs. What gangs are there to join?
The main ones:
Los Santos Police Department/FBI - you'll get into this easily if you're a white male and not an idiot, and with it comes a lot of power. You'll be quickly kicked as soon as you abuse it, so use it wisely and keep a lid on your temper, because when you're in the police, the spotlight really is on you and you have much more responsibilities than if you were in a gang.
BEARGANG!-Rawr... /me eetz some honey.
Super Awesome Cool- Whats up brauh?
Mafia are everything you've ever wanted to pretend to be in those mafia movies. In the past iteration of the server they weren't too big on RP, but this time they're changing that.
Grove Street used to be lead by an insane but hilarious Jon Do and usually teamed up with the Mafia. This gang is the biggest on RP, so if you're a hardcore RPer and you like street gang level stuff, this should be fine for you.
Taxi is another primarily douchebag gang, who RP (for lack of better term) insane taxi drivers whose only purpose is to grief people. They're the main fountains of comedy for the server so they are to be respected. When an angry hollering Helen Keller flattens you, take it in stride; if she could see you she wouldn't have meant it.
SA News is good if you're a pacifist/masochist and like pretending you're a news reporter. Beware though, a lot of people will try to kill you and most of the time handling requests is more like kitten herding.
Hitman - first rule of hitman is NO YOU CANNOT JOIN. The more you ask the more you'll b e told to gently caress off. If you really want to join, lurk IRC, RP well and you'll eventually be approached.
Magnolia Crew-Faggots of the server, most of the time they have like 18 members on yet cannot claim a point to save their poopy socks.
Yakuza-Mostly this gang is up and down, some months they're great and some they suck major cock. Great gang for new players.
Satan's Serpents-Ever want to be a virtual biker? Go ahead...
Vagos- NO YOU'RE A PEREZOSO! Ah yes, if you want to be lazy off your ass join the Vagos public gang. Lead by the hilarious Elroy Jones.
Block 903- Heavy RP nigger gang.
How do I get on dis poo poo nuckah?
1. Install the Full Version of GTA SA on your hard drive. (If you're afraid that you've lost the key to your game, don't worry you won't need it.)
2. Download the multiplayer modification from http://www.sa-mp.com Go to the downloads section and download the Client. Once it has finished downloading run the install program and follow the instructions. Keep that website handy as they have continuously releaesed updated server and client versions.
3. If you bought your disc after the hot coffee ordeal, your version of the game (2.0) is unmoddable. You will need to downgrade your client. If you haven't downgraded your client from 2.0 to 1.01 do it now. Remember you need to do this or the game won't run properly.
4. After the install, there should be a sa-mp executable. Run that. You will be presented with window. Click the Add Server button. Copy and paste this into the field: 72.232.254.202:6777. The SZR:GTA RP server should appear on your server list.
5. You will see a field that says Name: This is going to be your in-game name. We recommend that you use a <firstname>_<last name> format. This is a roleplaying RPG server.
6. Once you've got your name in, make sure the server is selected and Connect to the server. Once everything is loaded you are probably staring at a selection screen. We're going to ignore that for now. You will need to press `, T, or F6 to bring up the chatbox in the game.
At this point sit back and read what the tutorial has to say. It will give some good pointers about the server and messageboards to read up on the going ons of this server. In case you missed it in the tutorial, you will want to visit http://www.szrgta.com from there you can go visit the forums for all the recent updates and changes, or you can go visit the wikipedia for a lot of useful information about the game mechanics. After the tutorial is over you will be placed in the game.
