wikipedia knows a lot
anyway i saw a documentary about it once where a guy who had a photographic memory was able to learn icelandic (apparently a really hard language) in a short period of time.
the problem was that all the stuff he sees sort of clutters his mind, and so he as to sort of "visualise forgetting useless memories"
lol i dunno
edit: after a bit of snooping, i found this

The guy was a savant. It's a documentary from the BBC.
I had a photographic memory when I was younger but now I actually need to study. One day I memorized all of the pokemon that there were in order. In a fucking day.
EDIT: Saw your link, might post a link to the documentary in a bit.

I think of photographic memory in a literal since, like I remember things by complete detailed photos.
This is not what usually comes to mind when you think of photographic memory, but definitely related: story of a woman with hypermnesia who remembers everything (http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,591972,00.html).
I can only tell you what wiki tells me. Read:
