This movie looks kick ass. I never saw the original one, but I don't want to watch it til after this one, so I won't spoil it. There's been a lot of end-of-the-world type movies coming out lately. Perhaps it could be predicting some sort of impending doom.

The first one was about nuclear war and shit.
$100 says this one will be about global warming.

It wasn't about nuclear war and shit. It was about how humans were about to go into space, but couldn't stop fighting with eachother on earth. Klaatu was there to tell everyone that if they start shit with other planets in space, the robots will eliminate them.

The original is excellent. If you've watched the show Mission Hill there is one episode that plays on it quite amusingly.

Oh yeah. If they make Gort talk or anything, that'll just be auto-fail.

keanu reeves is not a good actor if he has to do anything involving moving or speaking. i think that movie looks boring and cheesy as piss.
I just hope they include Klatu Berata Niko in this one, if it isn't well I'm just not going.

My local newspaper did an article on the movie today. Apparently they discluded the Klaatu Barada Nikto scene from the movie, because they don't want to just "repeat scenes", but the phrase will be mentioned early on in the movie. That's fucking stupid. If they're already copying the movie, the titular characters, the Gort, why wouldn't they copy the signature scene of the movie?

I predict they're going to bastardize this movie just like they did with the I Am Legend remake.
Everything that made the original meaningful will be replaced with brainless action sequences. The message will be completely lost.

Oh yeah, they raped it. The whole thing was a commercial. They brought product placement to a new level. fucking horrible, i wish i walked out but i kept thinking it might get better. I expected War of The Worlds kind of action, but there was maybe 5 minutes of that. The rest was just SHIT acting. Also all they did was pander to minority groups but that's a different story. If you really wanna watch this movie, steal it off the Internet, cause it should be free to watch commercials.

You walked in there knowing damn well Keanu Reeves was in that flick, and you expected to watch a half-decent movie? C'mon..

I liked it, although I liked the old one better.
I am a fan of old movies my opinion will always be a little biased when it comes to remakes.

Saw it last night. Quite boring.
It was alright. Not better than the original, but slightly entertaining.
I'd recommend it if you're bored some night. Don't go out of your way to see it though.
On another note, I have a question for those who saw it. Does anyone know the name of the song that was playing during the last climactic moments? If you haven't seen it (and don't plan to) it starts at about 44:45 in this (http://www.zshare.net/video/52688442033b9db2/) video.

I watched the original this afternoon, what an awesome piece of film. I'm not going to pay to watch the remake, I hear it sucks pretty hard, I might watch it when there's a good torrent.

Yeah, I found it last night.
It's called "Aphid Reign." I still want the music from the trailer, I haven't heard that yet on the OST.

Pretty much this. I got the original and watched it last night, for a 1950's black and white movie it was pretty fucking good. Colour and special effects are overrated.
It seemed like a whole fucking cock-up praise of American super military power, as if all these movies made by Fox 21st Century (Same fellows that are responsible for the Fox News channel) are just trying to embed the idea in the narrow-mind of the typical American that paying tax towards militarism is a good thing, somewhat like Transformers and many other CGI bullshit movies. I know I sound like some hippie conspiracist, but this is totse, it's supposed to be the counter-culture that's aimed at a free-minded discussion, isn't it?
On the actual production of the movie hand, Keanu Reeves is a very good actor, he resumes very difficult roles, what was the last role of an alien that was played better than this? Honestly? He's probably one of my favirote actors, over-all, the production was shit, I mean the CGI was pretty professional stuff but again, they were aiming it towards a cheezy SUPR TECHNLOGY ZOMG image of the American military, it's primarly the directors' and the writers. The storyline had great elements that could've been incorporated much better, but Keanu was the best thing in that movie.

Saw it last night and I thought it was quite good. I can be pretty critical of movies but I thought they did quite good. Keep in mind that I never saw the old one (about to torrent it now though) Keanu doesn't exactly have the biggest range of acting skills but what he does, he does well. It suits the character wonderfully. CGI was top notch. And as always, Jennifer Connely was wonderful. I wanted to punch her son in the throat though.

As soon as I saw the preview, I was happy that they found a good role for Keanu, which is a soulless, emotionless alien.
But I heard that they were going to omit the Klaatu Baracta Nikto part, but Keanu instisted they put it in.

I haven't seen the original yet, I plan on watching it later tonight, but I saw the remake yesterday and I honestly didn't like it at all. I thought the son was whiny, there wasn't nearly enough action, and the ending was so anticlimactic I didn't believe it was over at first.
I don't know, I've heard the original is great though.
