I recently saw "Pie: Life in Chaos" and I know there is some truth behind that film, but how far does it go?
How much do numbers and patterns in nature control us and time?
Are numbers just a human method to describe such terms or are they much larger than that?
Just a suggestion, but you might do better in Mad Scientists, where they specialize in numbers.
Anyway, check out the Fibonacci Sequence. It's very prominent in nature.
0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21 etc...

Defect is right, you'll get better answers in Mad Scientists.
That would depend on who you want to believe. I believe that numbers are indeed an integral part of reality.

I'm one of the determinists that believe the universe is nothing but a construct of mathematical data, numbers, and equations. You can use numbers to describe every system, every system of systems, etc, etc, until you get to the universe (or multiverse, if you're into that sort of thing) scale. By using numbers to describe reality, you create reality.
