The world's finest coffee is harvested from the faeces of a small rodent-like creature on an island off Indonesia. The animal feeds on the beans which are only partly digested before being excreted when it lays some cable. Workers collect the droppings and the coffee is then processed before being sold for a high price. Connoisseurs believe the process imparts a superior taste upon the coffee - a taste that ranks it the best in the world.
I'm not kidding. Here is an article with a shop selling this shit for GBP50.00 a cup.

Nothing hits the spot like a mug-full of Juan Valdez. Usually I'll take it black, or with a couple of packets of Splenda.
Honestly, who the fuck likes Sweet & Low??
-I still don't quite understand how engulfing beans in shit makes them expensive, or even tasteful.

I'm drinking Jittery Joe's Winter Blend right now. My friend picked me up a can on his recent trip to Athens.
I quite like coffee and as such only drink it black and never add sugar. I've tried the kopi luwak and camocim jacu bird beans but found them lacking body and although nutty, too acidic for my palate. I don't necessarily blame the beans or processing for this but believe they were not roasted darkly enough, I have a problem with roasters who are frightened of the ominous second crack and leave the beans a medium-dark tan with few if any oils.
However there is an excellent roaster in Ireland(of all places) who sources direct from farmers and produces excellent full bodied dark roasts of India's Monsoon Malabar and Brazil's Brazilian Santos; my all time favourite being Monsoon Malabar which I drink every day made with a single cup italian quite expensive but excellent espresso kettle.

I actually really don't like coffee anymore. This is probably due to a really negative association I have with it... one time on a nine-hour flight to London, I was apparently too drunk off the free drinks, and I spilled an entire cup of sugary coffee on my jeans. VERY fucking sticky and uncomfortable... with four hours to go :(.
When I do drink coffee, I just treat it like a drug for a perk-up. Black. Yeah, I know, probably missing out on a world of deliciousness, but every time I see coffee I think of four hours of complete discomfort.

Pure and black is the only way to go. If I want sweet I'll have a coke. If I want coffee I'll have coffee.
I have a problem though. I don't know where to get good coffee. I'm stuck buying it at Publix, where it isn't horrible but its not the quality I drink when I go to a restaurant.

I'm currently going through a package of Fortnum & Mason Pancoer Estate Medium-Dark Roast Coffee Beans.
I used to take it black, but now I add a little milk, because I drink a lot of it at a time, and now that much black irritates my stomach.

Kroger brand columbian roast. it is a medium dark mix of pre ground beans. made with a Mr. Coffee percolator. nothing fancy, just tasty caffine. i drink it with a splash of milk, just enough to off set the color.

I think it's funny that you associate the bad experience with coffee but not booze.
Anyhow I don't know if it's the beans or what but I seem incapable of making a good cup of coffee on my own. It's always too bitter or too sweet. But I don't know anything about the types of beans to use... I prefer the coffee you get at a diner, they always seem to know how to make it just right.
I make a mean cup of cuban coffee though.

Columbian is nice. Java & Sumatra blend in double espresso format is my favourite. I usually do the double shot, then an equal amount of steamed 2% on top. It's fantastic.

i am also incapable of making a decent cup of coffee on my own. i usually buy a cup in the morning from caribou or my local co-op. my girlfriend's mother sent me a $25 starbucks gift card for my birthday, so i guess i'll do that for a second. i appreciate good coffee, but usually i only dig the lighter roasts.
