Its an old Tarus model 85 .38 SPL (essentially a J frame knockoff) Shoots pretty well. Picked it up at a gunshow in DFW. Prices there were insane for the most part, AKs were going for 800-1000 and ARs started at 1300. Found this little gem for $200 and picked up some pre-ban Glock mags for $15 a pop, so it wasnt a complete waste of time!

Also, for all you revolver guys I highly suggest checking out these free videos from Jerry Miculek:http://www.myoutdoortv.com/pdk/web/smith.html?feedPID=00zG15zm84msK0GbWemanhJ0KNWQYqM 4
I have always sucked with a revolver, and after taking some of his tips on grip and trigger control(most of which are a big no- no with autoloaders) my shooting with the Taurus and S&W improved A LOT. I recieved several compliments about how I was outshooting people with autoloaders, which is pretty good if you ask me because previously I would barely be able to hit paper at 25 yards with a revolver in DA.

I've never fired a snubnose, but I've started shooting on a S&W 617 while I was waiting for my licence to be issued and to this day it's the gun with which I perform better.
I have a couple of autoloaders but still whenever I shoot a revolver I always have the tightest groupings.

Nice. Good job doing your part to boost the economy. I found myself in a somewhat similar position : -).
Also, I'm glad to hear tips on shooting revolvers as I hardly ever, ever shoot them. I'm an auto man. Though I have been looking at revolvers for awhile.

Now you just gotta get a badass ankle holster.

Ankle holsters suck.

Ankle holsters suck.
I have to say that, having not tried them, the ones that lace into your boots are supposed to be pretty good. I am just not a fan or shoulder or ankle carry.

For now im using a pocket holster. If I can find an ankle holster from a decent manufacturer I'll try it.

Pretty much this.
Though if I'm going to carry a back-up weapon it'll probably be with a shoulder holster. Easier to access than one attached to the ankle, especially if you're wearing a sportcoat.

Only way to carry as far as i'm concerned is an IWB in waist band holster. Works great. You gotta bend over, pull up your pants to get to an ankle holster. IWB it's always right there.

The only issue with that is if you work a job with a dress code. Say you have to tuck in your shirt. Tuckable holsters can get pricey, or the draw might get slowed down. You might go to OWB and a jacket if you're mostly indoors. That or pocket holster. I've used IWB and pocket carry at times and enjoy them, so if you can't OWB or open carry, people might look into those two. They are my personal favorites for BUG carry.
Congrats on the new gun. Might I suggest some large rubber grips if your hand doesn't fit well? They were just the thing on my Taurus.
I prefer a standard Kangaroo pouch as a holster. It barely draws attention and is very versatile.

i always use a IWB holster. If im going to be active or anything i usually put it in, then tuck my tshirt around it. Works pretty good. I used to leave it in a chest zippered coat pocket till one day i left my coat in someone's house one day. Get so used to carrying you forget about it most of the time.

I thought about it, but I want to keep this gun as small as possible. Its just a backup or "go down to the corner store" gun. Im used to .45 ACP +P so this thing shoots soft to me.

Indeed.
I have an SW MP 360 which is my deep concealment gun.
Albeit not common there are some situations where to maintain concealment that is the only firearm I can carry.
For larger guns (especially at work) where you need to maintain deep concealment and tuck in a shirt -- a smartcarry holster is the way to go.
