So I highly doubt any of you would recognize me as I don't post too often and probably never before in this forum. However recently my grandfather passed away while ice fishing. He lived in Finland and was a big outdoors men, so naturally he had a few guns. He had a couple bolt action rifles and a 12ga under over shotgun. All of these have been willed to me, being his grandson and I was wondering on the best way to go about bringing them back into the US. Right now I'm living in MA and lack a gun license of any kind since I usually just go shooting with friends and don't own any guns myself. Any advice is great, thanks in advance.

There is no such thing as a gun license in the United States. God bless America.
You will need this form which you will have to file with the ATF:
http://www.atf.treas.gov/forms/pdfs/f53303a.pdf
I would highly suggest you get into contact with a lawyer or someone else with expertise in this area who can help you through the process. It is complicated and not something probably any of us have any personal experience with. You can also contact the ATF personally and see if someone can help. I believe in your situation it is totally doable and provided you jump through all the legal hoops, they should be able to help you.

your going to need to talk to the atf about importing it into the country i think you can import 1 or 2 sporting arms a year for your own personal use with the right paper work. now mass is one of the few states that needs licensing for this kind of thing if your above 15 and have taken a hunter ed class or safety class you can get your fid with your parents permisson and posses the guns but someone above 18 would have to register them in their name if your above 18 the license isint so hard to get but it takes a bit. if your above 21 then you can get a ltc class a or b which will allow you to poess low cap handguns and any cap rifle with the b and any cap handgun or rifle and carry the gun on a class a. the 1994 assault weapons ban is still state law per the 1998 gun control act so keep that in mind fid cards arent allowed to posess anything possibly able to hold more than 10 rounds or 5 with a semiauto shotgun

MA has FOID (firearm owners ID's) I believe.
That is, in effect, gun licenses.
