Well i know some people with ugly ass long hair and some people with great looking long hair, has to be some difference, doesn't there.

Not as far as I know, but I shave my head, so Im probably not the person to ask.

Longer hair generally does need combing pretty much every day or two to keep smooth etc, unless you want to have dreads .. apart from that just leave it ..

Just wash it like normal, go into a salon and get a trim every now and then. If you don't it'll start looking sloppy. Don't go to some barber shop type place unless you want cheap lousy looking hair.

You've also gotta realize that hair that long will take a long ass time to grow. I'm pretty sure guys can gain about a half inch per month tops, maybe a bit more if you're lucky. It'll take awhile to get hair like the Indian dude in the pic.

Ahhh I hate long hair. If you must, be sure to wash it more thoroughly than you would normally, this sounds obvious, but I just want to make sure you are'nt cutting about with dandruff. Keep it healthy from the start. I mean really healthy... keep your hair hygiene immaculate, wash it often but you can go some days WITHOUT washing as the natural oils in your hair will help it stengthen. To wash, get shampoo all over, remember it will require more than you normally would, and rinse out (don't be cheap with hair products). Trim off all split ends. Get it trimmed every so often. It will need to grow into a shape if you don't get it trimmed you'll end up looking like a neanderthal. Be patient with this and make sure you want to do it now 100% because you will look pretty dumb for a short-period whilst your hair is still growing, don't go half way through then decide you don't want to do it.

Dunno. Everyone thinks my hair is the best ever. I have beautiful hair, girls are always jeallous. It's about chin length now decently cut. I never comb, brush, style, do anything to my hair other than wash it. I'm getting it all hacked off next week though. I'll send you mine and you can tape it to your head. Might have to dye it if you want it black though....

I'm a dude and I have hair down to my lower back. Don't listen to people who say its stupid or whatever... wear your hair whatever way makes you happy.

Make sure to trim split ends regularly(judging by the pics you wont have to worry about that for a good year or so), use a good conditioner and prepare to wait a "long ass" time to get it where you want it.

I'm a dude with adleast 2 foot long hair and i dont do shit for it, ive trimmed it maybe 3 times in 3-4 years, i wash it around once a week and brush it around once a month. trimming would help when you get split ends but eh, its gonna be a long wait so just forget about it until/if problems arise

Growing your hair is a pain in the ass. I just got 6 inches chopped off and I still have over a foot left. The best tip I can give you is don't over wash it and don't under wash it either. It's good for me to really wash my hair every 2 days, but when I start cleaning it daily, I become a puff ball and my hair is even difficult to pull back. Also, don't go chopping it when you get to that awkward skater-looking period. It'll take a few months to grow out of but it's worth it if you want long hair.

I support your endeavor. Just take good care of your hair follicles. Previously, my hair was probably 4-5 inches, but three weeks ago I shaved my head. I'm growing my hair out as well; I'll probably leave it at shoulder-length. By this time next year, my hair should be at my desired length I think.

Use Dr bronners magic soap. I prefer the tea tea oil myself. Dilute it 1 part soap 12 parts water and lather up.

I'm a guy, and have pretty long (just past shoulder length). It looks pretty good, either tied back or out, but tying it back is pretty much a necessity when it gets past shoulder length, otherwise it becomes difficult to do anything in the wind or while bending over slightly. As long as you keep it reasonably clean (I wash mine once every few days) and brush it occaisionally (although don't, lol) you really won't have any problems.

OP: Also realize that you're probably going to go through several phases of cutting and regrowing your hair. Each time you grow it out, it will turn out better than the previous time.
