I'm surprised to see it show up on these forums as much as it does. With the grace of whatever roaming moderator (read: Smart bomb that locks threads) sees this, I'd like it if anyone who played UO could post so here and a short descript of when, which shard and what you liked, didn't like etc.

I always wanted to play UO, was it good for it's time?

Its golden day was a long time ago (I'd say 1998-2001) when it was fucking liquid awesome and pvp was completely unrestricted. You could own houses, fight monsters and people equally and just have a fucking good time. Over the last 7 years since they've released 6 expansion packs, each of them undermining the work you just did to become super leet and adding in new content that has little, if nothing, to do with the previous content. At one point they decided to add a Japanese element to the medieval European game, just for shits and dollars.

Before they edited the fuck out of it, it was the best game. No Mmo has every touched how good it used to be.

Theres plenty of free shards out there (just like there is for WOW). There's a special way of logging onto free shards though, and most of them run on UOR (UO: rennaissance). Here's a website for some free shards. Most are privately run, so check em out. http://www.gamesites200.com/ultimaonline/
UO is by far the best Online RPG game in my opinion. It's definitely worth playing if you don't mind the old school graphics (which i personally like).

Naw, I didnt play the original OT's alot, I played them at my friends house though. If you ever decide to start again, I might. Im going to bot since TibiaBot is the best thing to ever happen to this game.

Sometimes I just gotta play UO and I go play on the Hybrid UO free server. Tho post AOS UO game (official) just sucks ass too much to want to play it.
