if i had to choose i would go with a revolver because they almost never malfunction. what do you guys think?

Almost never malfuction? Right, if you compare a high quality revolver with a high quality "semi auto" then there won't be any issues.
Compare 2 shitty ones, then there will be issues with both of them.

Try shooting a few hundred rounds through a revolver before cleaning.

^^^ Yup. I think I would choose an auto because they almost never malfunction.
^^^ Yep I think I'll use my dick 'cause it NEVER malfunctions.^^^

Auto for me, Easier to shoot, faster to reload, high cap mags, reliable, and for the most part, nicer looking than revolvers.

Go buy a glock, squeeze a few rounds off everytime you use your dick (Neighbours and co-workers mightn't like it much but fuck them) and clean it everytime you have a shower, in 50 years time come back and tell us which is more reliable :D .

Your dick has never malfunctioned? Lucky. :(

Mine has been malfunctioning too often lately. That's what you get when you combine a heavy smoking habit (I quit two weeks ago) with whiskey and cocaine.
It's funny how all the stuff that helps you get the girls - in the end it makes your willy limp. :(
Semi-auto. Anything a revolver can do, a semi-auto can do just as well or better.

Revolvers are simple, but from a tactical standpoint an auto, esp a 9 can hold more rounds, be reloaded quick and easy. Look at torture tests on glocks, saltwater, frozen, degreased entirely, drop test and they still work, they say guaranteed to 30,000 rounds.

What about an 8?

I dunno. If they're bottlenecked like the Nambu, you might be better off with the 9. Y'know?

I think a Fotay is the way to go.

Revolvers are sexier, cooler, old school and more gentlemanly. Especially with the wood grips.
However, if you aren't going for aesthetics, and more practicality, you would have to choose an auto.

Given a choice i would have to go with the auto.
But luckily i do not have to chose between the two, i can have both.:)

Prefer semi.
However I do own one revolver (MP 360).
For it's remarkably easy to conceal.

Quite fun with full power magnum loads.

Revolvers kick ass. Ever since I was little and saw The Outlaw Jose Wales I wanted two .44 cal blackpowder single actions.
Now I just want another Ruger Blackhawk .357 with a 6 1/2 in barrel. Then, I feel, I will truly be a man.
The wife even agrees with this concept. :D

Revolvers are cool but semi autos are just more reliable because you dont haboslutely have to clean them every 100 rounds like you would a revovler. So i prefer semis. springfield XD-9 is my semi auto and I LOVE IT.

Oh yeah, definately dude. I got a G-17, and I won't go back. Hands down better for self defense. But still, I make waaaay more outrageous shots with my .357 just because of the barrell length. My best is still a coyote at a shade over 75 yards.
But, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter too much, cuz the conversation killer is: pieces of lead going really fast kills things, regardless how big or from what.

Have you checked out the Ruger New Vaqueros? Very nice revolvers, stainless, blued, or engraved finishes, multiple barrel lengths and available in .357 Magnum or .45 LC. $640.00 new I believe, I'm planning on picking up both at the end of next month.

Tacticool novelty means nothing, just the sound of my .44 snubby is enough to make someone shit in their pants.

The accuracy of such a gun means that the sound is the only thing you are going to hit anyone with.

I can get two inch groups with it at 40 feet, and it's not like I'm expecting to use it for anything other than an encounter of 0-15 feet.

Why choose between the 2?
