How do you usually download music?

I usually use limewire but was recently told that it could give me viruses. It was recommended to me that I use torrents instead.

So I went and installed Utorrent on my comp. But now I don't know where/how to search for songs I want. I went to mininova but it didn't have the song I was looking for (cryptik souls crew).

Where do you guys normally go to download songs? Does it have a LARGE collection of songs and is reputable? Can you help me please?

If you have a good antivirus just use Limewire. And dont download the "blank" songs. Theyre songs that are all the same size but have exactly what you typed in for a title no matter what. After a while you can recognize them just by the size.

Well if you really want a song, but can't find it on Limewire, you'll have to download the album via torrents. If you can't find the song, or the album... then it must be really shitty, in which case I have no advice for you.

I used to use Ares for downloading single songs, it wasn't too bad. Should be able to find it via google (I think it even has a wikipedia entry)

just type in the artist name and album name in google and look for a blogspot website they ussually have links to download the album from rapidshare/megaupload or whatever thats how i got most of my music.

Secondly, I am not going to respond further. For a few reasons: 1. My main aim is to find a song that I like, not to get into a flame war. 2. I don't care to expend energy on the likes of you. Actually, I found this thread because I wanted to answer this question myself. For a while, over the last couple months I found this brilliant website called MP3Fiesta.com sounds pretty gay yes I know but after giving them my email (I never got a single piece of spam either) they gave me $10. With this ten dollars I could go through the website and download whatever I wanted, tracks were each 20 cents and albums usually less than the sum of their track prices. AND every week, if I had less than two dollars left, I could receive another $10 for free and continue business as usual. I downloaded about 300 songs before they stopped this whole cycle, as it was a promotional thing for the website. Now you can do the same thing but the money isn't free if you know what I mean. I came here to look and see if there's maybe another website that does this thing and it is still free.

I use Azureus as my torrent client and most of my torrents come from mininova. I have bearshare but its pretty much crap and I don't like it.

Right click on the item in confusion of opening, and click on the "Open Containing Folder" option. It should be the second option down (assuming your uTorrent version is 1.8.1). There is what you should have downloaded. Double-click (or single-click, whatever the hell your settings for the mouse are) and it should work.
If it's ending in .rar, use something like winRAR to unzip it or something along the lines. Or, if you want to save the trouble of downloading other torrents, you could check the file types before you hit "OK" when trying to add a torrent into uTorrent. It gives you the option to uncheck anything you don't want downloaded either.
Take note of where the files are being downloaded to. It could be your "Download" folder on your C: Drive, or the "Download" folder in your "My Documents", but it helps if you know where your shit is heading beforehand if you plan on using, moving, or burning it.

I have replaced Limwire with Frostwire for single file downloads. I was getting tired of the lime and barbed wire looks better. I think it works better, too. I won't give an explanation as to why because I don't really know.
For albums and discographies, I go to thepiratebay.org first before checking elsewhere.

If you have already solved this dilemma, throw coal at someones window with an attached note saying "Merry EFF-king Christmas. Even if you didn't, do this anyways.
