I've recently had the good fortune to have access to two award winning chili recipes, one from my parents and the other from a good friend. Naturally, I took them, combined parts of one with parts of the other, threw in a little of my own, and come up with some damn good chili. Beats my parents, rivals our friend's.

However, there's one thing I want to improve. What can I marinade the steak in that will give it good flavor for the chili?

perhaps if you fill us in on the recipe;) we can better help you find a marinade that matches the flavors you all ready use.

Just brine the meat in salt water with some sugar and garlic added.

Beer.

Absolutely. Even if the chili doesn't come out right, it'll be better than nothing, because you have beer.

dark soda works well, people in texas like dr pepper because of its high sugar content, no, this will not make your meat sweet. you can also give your meat a small rub, with garlic powder, pepper, salt, sugar, and something spicy.

Salt, pepper, cumin, blonde beer.

Well, I meant to marinate the meat in beer, but your idea probably works better.
