Which brands are the best, and why?

Converse actually makes some good boots that are actually authorized. Theres this tech sergeant in my flight who got a pair issued when he went to iraq, and they actually look pretty good. I'd get them in sage if I could, but I think they only have them in tan.
I work at a cold climate base, and the Air Force is just now coming out with some cold-climate gear (sage fleece/gore-tex bottoms/sage beanies, etc), but the one thing we just don't have yet are boots. If I could find some nice thick sage boots with gore-tex lining, they'd be mine in a second.
For now, I just use my issued black leather boots for my BDUs, these clothing-sale BX zipper sage boots for my ABUs, and these huge black cold weather boots that I got issued.

I've been wearing the steel toe Bum-U Jungle Style Air Force Boots, found here (http://www.bumushoes.com/). I've had them for around 8 months now, and they're still in pretty good shape. They're fairly comfortable, especially with insoles. You can have them add a few features, such as cold weather, wave sole, steel toe, zipper, etc. I don't think they're too bad.
I have a nice pair of desert tan altimas. Very nice and it feels like wearing the sneeker boots but with out the look of the sneeker boots. Because I think the converce look shitty. If your like me and could not make up your mind about your first aftermarket boots, just go to a few stores and try them on while still in uniform so you can acually see what they look like. Don't rush into it, boots are a big investment. And don't buy discount boots because your feet are not something you want to spare money on. Treat your feet well and they will do the same for you.

Do any of the websites listed in this thread ship internationally? (I'm not in the US military).

copshoes.com does, but you're responsible for duties and tariffs, as well as any customs fees.
If you don't mind me asking, which service are you in?

Dude I got a pair that look just like those but in black.
I use them for paintballing and they feel pretty nice.
There is only one good combat boot! Altima Exospeeds! I had a pair but they got stolen at NTC. Can't get them anywhere because they are always sold out. Lighter than PT shoes and really comfortable. Barely in regs but in regs none the less.

Yeah, Danner's are good...just bought a pair of waterproof Danner's and they fight like a charm. Belleville's aren't half bad, but the Danner's just seem to fit me better.

Not a lot of people like Bates, but I like my durashocks because I can move way better on the ice with them than the other sage boots available. I won't wear desert boots until I have to, but when that happens I'll probably wear Bellevilles over the other desert boots we can choose.

I just bought some Bellevilles from clothing and sales a few weeks ago. Pretty Comfortable, and nice looking. I hate the way those Converse "tennis shoe boots" look. They don't look like combat boots, they just look retarded. They might be comfterble and light, but you toughen your feet up and strengthen your legs by wearing heavier boots.
We got issued some new highspeed Danner mountain boots too. They look like some hiking shoes you'd buy at payless, brown and black, and the ankle part is like 2-2 1/2 inch shorter than regular boots. They look absolutely REDICULOUS when worn with your ACU's. Apperently we are supposed to wear them in Afghanistan.
