For real? Its been a while since I've seen the one with Scientology but it portrays it with EXTREME exaggeration. Take anything from that show with a grain of salt.
They both take truth then blow it way way out of proportion.
The "this is what Scientologists actually believe" part was true though...

I'd suggest getting your information on these religions from another source.

Actually, the Mormonism bit was almost spot on. I was curious about this to, so I went and looked it up, and realized it was more than fairly accurate portrayal. The family was a bit over-the-top, but the actual story was mostly true.

I imagine Southpark is on the money with their presentation, with very little liberties taken.
The comedy, after all, is in the actual religion as it stands, and needs no embellishment.
See: Mormon's magical underwear.

The Mormons should be grateful South Park satired them before the kiddie fucking compounds were discovered.

As far as scientology goes.....
It is in the tech OT III (aka the wall of fire) that a pre-clear learns of Xenu and the events that transpired at the dawn of humankind. South Park portrayed it in a simple, but true to OT III.
Placing the souls in the volcanoes, loading them up on ships that looked like commercail airplanes, brainwashing the souls using soul catchers to capture them...
...all true and found in OT III.
Ask a scientologist who the pilot is.......for more on scientology hate.....listen to a little band called....TOOL.

One of my best friends is Mormon and his family is almost exactly like that. I showed the episode to some other Mormons who I am friends with and they thought it was a lot funnier than I did. Apparently they all know families exactly like that.
Its weird, there is a HUGE Mormon presence in my town and most people don't even know it.

I couldn't imagine myself living in a place like that. You live in Utah? I dislike communities that have such a strong religious presence. It's fucking eerie.

I live in Southwest Colorado. It's not even really that noticeable. I didn't even figure out how many people here were Mormons until I went to a few church functions with him and saw how many people I knew were there.
Generally speaking, the Mormons I know don't make any attempt to force their beliefs on other people and unless asked about it they don't even discuss them. I have even had missionaries come to my door and had long conversations with them about other topics without them bringing religion into it, when they do I tell them I'm not interested and they leave with no hard feelings.
As far as religious fanatics go I actually like Mormons. However, I have never been to Utah....
