What are the laws in MN about this? I ask because if you've JUST bought a car, you're not going to have insurance for it yet.
What happens if you get pulled over?
I know, I need to minimize the risk of getting pulled over, but hell, look at that car, it'd be hard not to.
Still though, what would happen?

You can get a cover letter from your insurer prior to buying it. They vary, but you will normally be covered for a week.

Fuck I hate you so much right now. One of the only things I envy about you North Americans. Cool old cars at reasonable prices. That thing would be going for like $15000 in OZ. No joke.

^ $18,250 for the same year model and options - except in good condition. You can get the previous year's equivalent for $15,000 though.

Sweet car! I can't wait until I go to get my 81 Trans Am. Sometime this month or next month. I'm planing on buying a new car today actually.

I bought my v6 1980 Firebird for $600. Drove it for about 2 years. It's finally shit the bed though. Rear frame is rotted all to fuck. Told my uncle about it and he and I are going to part out my firebird and use parts from it to put together an 81 Trans Am. Similar Color and all. Just a little darker. I'll need to have it painted anyway. so Basically paying gas for the trip up and back, then the tow dolly. Then I'll have to have it painted and it'll be good to go.

To be completely honest, in all seriousness, I think this might be why he's letting it go cheap

Whenever I've bought a car, I've set up the insurance beforehand and just phoned on my mobile with a quote number to confirm that I've bought the car and the insurance starts as soon as payment is taken over the phone - do things work differently in the US?

I bought a car yesterday. what I have to do, as I'm just a Lien Holder on the vehicle, I am mandated to carry full coverage insurance. On my firebird I only had liability, and I called while I was at the car lot. I had to call over to my insurance company, tell them I wanted full coverage insurance on the new vehicle. They set it up and charged me for next month's bill. They then talked to the dealer and all was good to go. Drove it home right after. 2001 Dodge Dakota, for those who're interested.
