If only DXM wasn't a stereoisomer :( Otherwise I don't think it wouldn be too hard to remove the methyl & replace with an H on the oxygen.

You'd almost definitely demethylate the N as well, but that's not too difficult to undo. Not that it was viable in the first place. :(
