View Full Version : Whiskey and Aspirin
I wasn't sure quite where this belongs, and I haven't posted here in agesssss,
But to get to the point of the matter, I was drunk and had a headache, I took some aspirin, and now there's blood in my vomit. Does &T reccomend I visit the doctor, or should I just wait it out?

you should always see a doctor if there's blood in your vomit imo.

You probably ruptured a vessel in your throat.

Both can make your stomach bleed man. And when I'm drinking my whiskey(its all I drink anymore) I do not take painkillers, I know that in a bit the whiskey will take the headache away.
Mixing aspirin and alcohol isn't something I'd recommend. They can contribute to a number of factors, including stomach bleeding. This would be especially true if you're drinking on an empty stomach and took the aspirin.
Other things that are side effects of OTC painkillers such as aspirin and ibuprofen are inability to form blood clots, increased stomach irritation (contributing to your bouts of vomiting), and in the case of acetaminophen (Tylenol), a greater risk of liver damage.
It also, according to this NY Times article (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0CE2D81231F937A25752C1A9669582 60), inhibits your body's ability to break down alcohol, so you wind up drunker than you would be if you hadn't taken them. That may be a pleasant side effect, but in tandem with the complications I listed above, it sounds like a small gain for a lot of potential pain. Seems like the 30% increase could easily be achieved by having another shot or two.

Don't be daft. The potential problems of mixing alcohol and various medications is well documented, even if you choose not to believe them or ignore them. This question deserved a serious answer instead of an off-putting sense of superiority that certainly didn't help him or anyone else.

Actually it depends on the color of the blood. If it is bright red you've most likely torn the lining of your throat from vomiting. However, if the blood in your vomit is very dark to almost black go to the fucking doctor, this means you are bleeding from your stomach.
Cheers buddy!:)

Probably an ulcer or some form of gastritis. Aspirin is highly acidic, and alcohol is also quite hard on the lining of your stomach.
If your vomit is the same color as coffee grounds you need to go to the ER right away before you bleed to death.

Using a blood thinner with a depressant is a bad idea. You could have at least popped a xanax or something useful.

Aspirin is pretty bad as it is for your stomach, it can cause ulcers in a lot of people, you definately shouldn't mix it with hard liquor.
alcohol just shouldn't be mixed with any drug, it always ends up fuckin you over

I don't know, weed and alcohol is pretty awesome, as well as xanax and a couple beers.

No, that wouldn't be alright. A legitimate question regarding the safety of consumption of something is fine, which is what the OP was asking. Talking about your huge long turd is not a question, it's a statement that has little value other than to amuse your 5th grade intellect.
