I am having trouble removing ALWIL avast software 4.0 so that I can get Kasperky to work. Here is the real problem, I never really downloaded the full avast software, just the setup and thought screw it, why not just buy Kaspersky.

While Kaspersky was installing it said that I had to delete avast. I thought no problem, I deleted the setup.exe and tried again, but to no avail, Kaspersky still detected it. I even restarted my computer.

So then I went and used Windows Search function with just about every combination hoping that it would find out where the rest of avast was so I could get rid of it, and of course it's not showing up because I never really had the avast, I just downloaded the first step, then deleted it.

So what would you do to make it work? And are there any alternative programs to check my computer for any places that the setup.exe might have interacted with my computer.

I already searched, sorry I am a newb, just want to get Kaspersky on my comp. If not I'll just have to settle with avast and be done with it, but I don't want that.

Thanks, it's fixed now though, I just downloaded the whole of advast and then deleated it.
