Ok. I got Fallout 3 today and tried to install it and this is the error I keep getting.

I don't know what i'm supposed to do to fix this. It just dies right there in that same spot every time.

Man, you have got some luck.
I don't even know where to begin fixing a broken install. If it fucks up at the same time everytime and it's a brand new disc, either you drive is having trouble reading it or you have a bad pressing of the disc. That's all I can think of.

I have the newest firmware for my DVD drive so I can't even do that for a fix. I'm gonna try it on my bro's laptop to see if it works on there. If not,i'll try to exchange the disc.
I got Dead Space for the PC as well and that installed smooth as butter. Installed, ran the game, got into it and started to play perfectly. I don't know why Fallout 3 is being such a pain in the ass. I'm guessing it might be because of the securom shit because I googled the problem and there are others having the same problem as me (at the same spot). It gets past the Games for Windows Live stuff and once it gets to what you see there it dies and gives me that error.
This PC is completely clean as well. I have my new mobo, cpu, and video card installed on a completely formatted HD with a clean version of Windows installed.
EDIT: That was weird. I restarted my computer and then closed every program in the background that was running. Ran the installer again and it worked first try. Game is now installed. Sweet. Just a glitch in the Matrix?

Shitty.
I guess now's probably not the best time to tell you that my pirated version installed fine and runs great huh?

That's pretty catastrophic.
Anyways, I got the same error. But I was able to click "Continue Installation", running it on XP. It works great.
