Hi

Last week my dad was suspended from his job without pay after a disagreement with his colleagues. He is a shareholder (about 8% or something) in a small 4-man business. Since he is a shareholder, does he get extra rights or something? As of now he has no van and no source of income. I'm asking because he's spent the last few days at the bottom of a bottle. My dad has never been an alcoholic type - I've only ever seen him pissed right up like once before. If he can't even stay sober fuck knows how he's going to get a job.

Also, with his shares, I thought that maybe he could sell them to an opposing firm? He used to work for another company doing the same thing but they were a larger outfit. Is there anyone stopping him going to the director of that firm and offering him shares in the opposition's company? It should ruin their shit completely.

Thanks for any help. I'm in England by the way.

The way I see it it's only 8%.

He gets 8% of whatever profit trickles out but he can't really have a voice if the 3 other people are against him. In most things like this I think it's majority rule so his 8% can't do shit.

Why would he sell to rival firm? Just sell his stocks or whatever to the open public but now is a terrible time to do so.

There's always unemployment.
