Usually I just throw on a nice pair of jeans (levi's 511 for the most part) and a sweater and I'm set to go. I don't try to go all out and be completely noticeable but I still get a lot of compliments from people.
That being said, how important is being stylish to you fine folks? Do you spend a lot of time-money on clothes from boutiques or do you kick it laid back, buying shirts from target and jeans from kohls?
I enjoy being stylish, it's very important to me. It gets me a lot of respect when first meeting someone.

I pride myself in being stylish. Looking nice is somewhat of a confidence booster for me, the way I get a lot of looks and such.

I can wear things that aren't expensive and feel fine. But there's something about dressing to the point of you knowing that you look great that boosts confidence like nothing else.
I usually wear some BKE or Big Star jeans with a shirt from the Buckle or one that I've made. Suits me pretty well and looks good too.

comfort and appearing professional is all it is to me.
Style is important. Some people have it, most don't and copy off other people or wear what is expensive and thrown together very badly.
I'm good at styling, and can mix genres canny succesfully.
But at the end of the day there is a difference between a style, and your own style.

^^ IMO if you are going to steal someones style you can pull it off, its where you mix other peoples styles is where you get problems.
If your going to mix genres its best to do it with your own flair. Easier said than done.

Being stylish is a huge confidence booster on my part especially since I'm quite shy when engaging in conversations. It's important that I wear stylish clothes since I think it makes me look classy, sophisticated and well-off.
Aside from that, I believe wearing clothes that fit well is one of the most important part of having style since it highlights the good points in your figure and minimizes the bad ones.
I don't spend a lot of money buying clothes though I think I spend a lot of time learning about style and fashion.

^^ Pointed to for truth
I worked construction, most of the time I couldn't give 2 shits about how I like on a construction site but last year we did a building downtown right near a path where thousands (literally) of hot girls jogged by each day. It was then since I learned I can dress stylish as a construction worker. I turned from drunken homeless looking to contractor in days.

I get most of my clothng from yard sales, thrift shops, and the local dumpster.
Right now, that means Bugle Boy jeans and a nice Ralph Lauren corduroy shirt.
When I had money and an office job, I stuck with classic looks--three-piece suits, white button-down Brooks Brothers shirts, Countess Mara ties, and a black cashmere overcoat.

Well you get props for the corduroy...
I often wear labelled clothing like Dickies, Quicksilver, Billabong (most of which are Australian brands) but I also shop at places such as Target as I find I can get the look I want for much cheaper prices and from plain shirts (Californication seems to have started the plain black shirt trend I'm starting to see everywhere)
A lot of my 'fashion' is DIY. So I have a pair of white jeans which is what I started wearing here before they got trendy (popular in the 80s I'm told), now I see a lot of major franchises starting cashing in on it and charging obscene prices for white jeans. But in my case I took a pair of grey jeans and bleached the fuck out of them and now you can't tell the difference between a pair with a $150 price tag on them (the fabric doesn't seem to have weakened at all)
They look great together with plain grey shirts and white skate shoes, but I go towards minimalism, so whatever. $40 worth of clothing and I really think I have better style than most people out there that go with expensive labels.
If you need clothes to set your style you are 1, incredibly shallow 2, don't actually care what other people think as long as it makes you feel good.
If you need clothes to set your style, your style can't be all that "wow".

what the fuck are you on about?
Of course we need fucking clothes to set our style.
What are we all supposed to walk around naked?
You probably shop at lowes, go fuck yourself.
People like stylish clothes for alot of reasons, doesn't mean they are shallow at all.
also. Pro tip : people like to feel good about themselves, and their appearance in particular.
It's called self confidence?
( but if you have too much you deserved to be beaten with a rusty something)
I think most of you have low self-confidence.
I really don't give a shit, I wear stuff from the salvation army's donation pit (I don't pay for it), I wear whatever comes by as long as it bland and simple, but that's not a rule.

Somewhat. Sometimes I don't really care and I'll just wear jeans, a t-shirt, and an old flanel jacket. Well... at this time of the year it's more like a warm black sweater, black jeans, and a big suede jacket. Style is important to me, because while I may not be your traditional guy with a nice button-up and jacket combined with some fancy jeans and a nice watch, I absolutely have to differentiate myself from the fucking idiotic white boys I always see at parties who dress all G'd up. I go for anti-style most of the time (not in a lame emo or punk way, though). Tends to work fine for me.
i pride myself in being able to dress myself nicely, i don't care how expensive the shit i wear is but i do want to wear nice looking clothes. i don't shop at kmart or walmart, but i don't shop at versache either. i get my shit from the nike store, tommy hillfinger and places like the gap usually. lookin fresh can never go out of style.

That is still a style you fucking jackass. Self-pwnt bitch. You're not the only one doing that.

Wow I didn't know that, I thought you had to be selective as to what you want to wear in order to have a style, wow!

You're a junkie. You should be wearing skin tight jeans with the knees worn out, a pair of dirty converse and too small t shirts.

You thought wrong, obviously.
Is it just me or are clothes getting made crappier and crappier?
I mean a few years back i bought a pair a jeans, since then I've bought a couple more and the new ones nearly instantly turned to shit and wore through in a few weeks. The few year old pair are kicking along just fine except for a few wound marks.
I noticed the fabric in the newer ones were thin as and 'fake' denim.
I don't really buy clothes but I assume some of you here do, whats your opinion? Is the quality in clothes dropping insanely or is it just me?

The Bangladeshis are clearly no longer suitable to make our clothes. Perhaps the lovely people of Bhutan, Nepal, or Myanmar can help us out.
