Would anyone know an estimate of how much it will cost to fix my car? I crashed into a pole and it hit the rear left hand door & wheel.
The only damage I can see is, the door needs replacing and the piece of metal that the suspension spring joins onto is snapped. Also I will need a new airbag and sensors. I had a guy look at it and he said around $6000! Which I don't think is right. But I am waiting on a proper estimate.

If the chassis itself gets distorted, things can get pricey fast.
Post some pictures please.

Nereth is right. a Simple distortion or crack in the chassis can easily turn a thousand dollar job into a four thousand dollar job.
I'm from the states, so I'm not sure how much maintinence on Holden is, I have to be honest.

Thats why one should always have insurance. :)
Repairs are always expensive. Any structural dammage would cost ALOT! Most insurance companies would write a car off if there is even slight chassis dammage.
Get us some pics. Get different quotes, when I was rearended in my 300ZX, the first quote I got was over 7500. I ended up paying less than 2500 and it was better than ever.

You did the suspension tower?
$6k sounds pretty good to me, if that is the case.

Had. Z32 '89 TT t-top. Great car, best I have ever driven.
I was getting maybe 250km to a tank (compared to the 700ish I get in my current lexus). Just could not afford to keep it. Suddenly insurance also jumped from 600 in 2005 to 1800 in 2006. It's a bloody joke. Not to mention everything breaking off day by day.
If I had 15k today, cash, without doubt I would have one. Buy one in which-ever condition you can for 5-8, spend the rest doing a total overhaul of the engine, transmission and interior and maybe one could get somewhere. But if you can't invest that much, it'll just be a pain and keep dragging you down.
Also, if you are in the market, watch out alot of the "manual" TTs out there are auto-conversions. Thats a bad idea. I have yet to see a decent conversion done, most will not start anywhere but neutral. The engine is detuned and the turbos are different.
Still a great car though. Easily outclasses the GTO/3000GT and Skylines in terms of handling. Probably the cheapest car out there to get HP out of per $. Massive potential.
Or, if you are that way inclined, LS1 conversion. The engines weigh nearly the same (the LS1 is slightly lighter i believe). So it will not hurt the balance of the car. But where's the joy in that? :)

I do, Its an 86T with some minor modifications. And as much as people think of it as the red headed stepchild of the Z line He refuses to listen.

Grrrr, can't find my camera charger to take photos, but will keep looking :)
I attempted to draw it in paint lol. If anyone can understand it...

I don't think it's the suspension tower, just the thing that joins onto it. Also how much are airbag sensors and airbags, can you pick them up cheap from junkjards? I saw a door on ebay for $150.
So if I can get all the sensors and the new door for about $500(?), I will have about $1000 - 1500 to spend on that other thing (My budget is about $1500 - 2000)
If anyone can help me get an estimate, I will be extremely grateful as I still owe $15,000 to the bank for this car ( No insurance :( ). I really hope it isn't more than 2 grand to fix.
Ill try and get some photos up, and please note (If you already haven't), I don't know much about cars :)

Wow! they're hard over there.
Its usually the turbo's that have hassles with insurance here...not the V6.
Sorry bout your car dude. :(

you paid 15k plus for a VX V6 auto?
Man that's about twice as much as they are worth...

I paid 14.5k for it, at that time they were going for about 12-13k. But I wanted this exact one (The colour, the body kit), which I had been looking for, for ages. Also I suck at ....shit what's the word....haggling(?)

Airbags and door would only be maybe $1000....
If the chassis is fucked, buy a new car :)
Err....from that fucked up drawing are you saying the steering rod/whatever it's called now is broken? It's usually just 2 bolts, undo them, put the new 1 in and tighten to specs.
On second(third) thought, you have to undo the tie rod ends from the steering bit to get the steering rod/w.e out.
It's a simple enough procedure, just dont lose the nuts/bolts/washers/split pins.

I saw a guy who had hit a power pole on sunday in a commodore :)
Basically, the pole was on the ground(one of those metal ones), the car was stuck to a second pole on the enbankment bit, and it looked pretty fucked up. The cops were there, but no ambulance so it mustve been recent(~6am).
The motor looked as if it mightve been sticking through the floor, the bonnet was mangled and the front was V shaped :)
Waste of a perfectly good light pole....
If the chassis is damaged your probably better off getting a second hand commodore and either swapping the bodies, or using your one for parts for the new(second hand) one.
And if their offer to sell is $10,000 offer then $9,000 Straight up :)
Lol.
2001 commodores use trailing arm suspension, and that bar you are pointing to in the picture is a component of that system, known as the 'trailing arm'.
I.e. it is the chief component.
Holy crap you must have hit that thing haaaaard.
Edit: I should add a 'maybe' qualifier to this diagnosis, since I've just had a look under a commodore, and it's too damn messy for me to be sure.

D'oh.
I had to sell one of my cars, and it was a good one, because I didn't have the money to pay the rent. I know what it's like to be broke, it's not nice.
I'd have a half a dozen places give quotes for the suspension. I'm not sure what your picture really describes, it looks like a trailing arm or something...
Do you have any relatives in the motor trade? If they can't do the work
Huh. I meant to post this last night, but there was a power cut, and Firefox managed to save it, so I'm posting it this morning. It's probably out of date now.

what sort of bank gave you a loan without requiring that you insure the car. also how much did you pay for the car, its a commodore not a statesmen right. seems to me like the car is only worth 8-10 odd grand.
