So I need to build a drain to collect water from two roof gutters and some runoff from bricks. I decided to dig a three foot by three foot square hole that goes down four feet I plan to fill the hole with rocks then cover the top with a layer of soil, this will be the 'vault' where the pipe for the drain(s) will lead. I plan to put a 45 degree angle piece with an extension of pipe into the 'vault' under ground into the rocks. Sorry if I'm not explaining this well; I'm stoned.

Basically it will look like this:

Id say it would probably work, but make the hole a little bigger. Use small rocks. Gravel.

BTW is your soil very clay-y if so then it will take a while to drain.

make sure the hole is down a slope or somewhat away from your house, so you dont get flooded.
