Hey folks, about 2 years ago I was getting into Astral projection/lucid dreaming. I had success with LD, but not so much with AP. And I pretty much stopped for some reason.
Now I'm starting to get very interested in all this again. But I pretty much forgot how to do it. Can you give me some advice/links?
Thanks in advance.

When I want to astral project--which is rarely, since it is a trivial thing--I just do it. Course it took me twenty years of work and study to get there.
My suggestion--of course!--would be to use the classic shamanic journey, which may not fit your definition of astral projection.

Bask in the virtue of silence, listen to the static and let your body fall away, but do not let thou mind astray.

Vanhalla said it pretty good, just let your whole body relax, let it just sink into the floor, be in complete silence and relaxation, let your brain waves just drop until there is no thoughts. Then imagine your soul coming up out of your body, don't move your body, but move your arms out. Then your head, neck, chest, stomach and legs. You'll know when your out, and for most people, your heart chakra will go crazy, just don't be scared, nothing in astral projection can hurt you, nothing in the process or in the astral plane itself. If you hear voices of the astral plane while trying to project, good, keep going, don't stop. Never look back at your body. If you hear odd music, good, your almost there to the astral plane, keep going. When you know your out of body, just go forward and never look back. Then your free to do as you wish within the realm of possibilities of the astral plane. Seek your spirit guide or guardian angel if you wish, if you get scared of an entity, ASK for it to go away, if it is pure of heart, it will, if not, move away from it. Never demand anything, always be polite. If you want to get back to your body, then just think about going back to your body, if your lost, call for help to your spirit guide and ask him to guide you back to your body. That's that, just don't be scared, there is nothing to fear but fear itself, and your only scared because your ignorant. But goodluck.

Yeah you'll need to relax a lot. If you're serious, look up David (something)... I think thats his name.
You need pure peace and quiet, anything that makes you think will take away from projecting. Spirituality and general belief in you can will help you.
And your heart will race, don't worry... its NOT your heart (but you won't believe me when it happens, trust me).

Now that is a useful comment...
To the OP, if you do manage to astral project, could you send me the following week's lottery numbers, I'm rather skint at the moment... ;)

Alright, thanks a lot. I'm going to try this today. Does any one have any links to good sites for this or books to read besides the one Arms mentioned?
Also, can anyone describe what the Astral Plane is like?

I'd google it. Look up chakra's, they might help.

Astral project, lucid dreaming, same shit. Only difference between them is that you don't lose awareness in AP of going into the dream state, and it's a lot harder. Anyway, check out this site http://www.astralvoyage.com/

They are not the same thing (sp?). I can do lucid dreaming but I can't astral project- in fact all my dreams are lucid I just don't think astral projecting is possible.

The actual experience once you get into it is the same. AP is just consciously entering it, while lucid dreaming requires you to become conscious while you're already dreaming.
Swallow 2 bottles of Robitussin DX and then smoke 1/4 ounce. Dissociatives ftw.

Most people i know that astral project are schizophrenic.
I have this thing where when I relax, either pre-hypnotis or otherwise, my heart starts to race randomly. For no reason at all, it just speed up for a few seconds and goes back, without me even thinking about it, it doesn't come with anything I would consider anxiety, although it does make me uncomfortable, anyone know what I'm talking about? How to stop it?
Furthermore, ArmsMerchant, can you link me to a good reliable source to start up with this kind of stuff?

You might just want to try this, has worked for me.
Lay down on your bed, my bed is in an almost exact North-South (magnetic) alignment, my head faces north (this might be a coincidence or might be important). Start some of that transcendental meditation. At least, that's what I think it is. Get comfortable, might want a blanket as you will eventually get cold and uncomfortable.
You will have thoughts going through your mind, but ignore them, don't try and block them out, just try not to concentrate on them. Think about your breathing, in-out, so everything you breathe in, have your internal dialogue say iiiiiiiiiiin then with the out breath, ouuuuuuuuuuut. Keep doing this. You will consciously feel your brain/mind shifting and dropping in to different levels. Whether this is brain wave shifting or consciousness shifting, I have no idea. Keep this up, eventually you will feel lead like. Make sure all your muscles are totally relaxed and untensed, as you will develop pins and needles if you don't, muscles requiring blood when you aren't providing it, or something.
Eventually you will hit a point where you feel your entire body has pins and needles, but it's not pins and needles, as the longer you hold it (trying not to laugh, it is surreal, but if you do, it's easy to get back to this point quickly, like less than 5 seconds, as long as you don't break your train of thought) you still don't develop a numbness or pain. Might be REM or you might be reverbrating with the universe. Don't know. It's open to interpretation.
After a while of this, you will be able to see your hands in front of you, doing stuff. They will appear shadowy/yellow tinged/charcoal/white tinged, and you can control them, move them as you will. Eventually you can leave your body and things will either stay that weird appearance or go full colour, but everything will melt/shift in to the background/surroundings if you look at it for too long. Go flying!
From my location, in a south westerly direction, heading towards the sky, you can find this temple place where an old dude just sits there and looks at you. Packed full of books, a big library or something. You won't remember what you learnt when you come back to your body. Also, somewhere in central Australia, there is a giant rat man (I think he could be a Chinese grand master or something, no idea, he doesn't exactly look like a rat, closest comparison is that rat guy leader off Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there's a lizard kind of dude also somewhere around) who lives in the bush and sort of underground also. You can have conversations with him and never recall anything when you return.
The vibrations are nice to just feel and absorb.
Anyway, after that, you will be able to AP by accident.
You will be laying in bed, asleep, sit up in a hurry, and get out of bed, notice your body behind you, and be like, woah, I did it, and I wasn't even trying.
