Ok, so I was a guitar hero fan and owned all the games until world tour. I was probably one of the biggest annoying fanboys you could meet. When the first time I saw the ad I recognized Michael Phelps and A-Rod and lol'd heartily and was enjoying the commercial.

But then......I saw Kobe Bryant slide out holding the microphone. This alone has put me off from buying the game.

I bought the full-band-set-thing because I like the soundtrack and I like the drums.

The elevated 'cymbols' really do make a difference; but I will make note of something that both GHWT and RB haven't caught on to yet...Packing some decent drum sticks.

I play the drums mostly, on an Ion Drum Rocker, which if you do it properly, is quite an authentic drumming experience. I've got 4 toms, a bass pedal, a crash, and a high-hat. Thinking of picking up the ride too, to make the set complete.

I plan to, once I have the extra cash and space for a drum set I fully intend to learn how to play proper. With the experience I've gained from Rock Band I don't expect it to be too difficult.

I've seen it inspire people to listen to new music or pick up a real instrument for the first time. I got 120+ hours in CoD4 (acording to the time counter 5days and some ammount of hours) and at least 50+ hours when Im done with Fallout 3 but, whenever I play GH I can never be as enjoyed in these types of games for major hours like the other games.

It costs some rediculous ammount of money for the full set or even the bare minimum guitar only set is still $30 more than the average 360 game.

To be honest I haven't really taken the time to notice. My buddy does a lot of music projects and has always had this crummy old set at his house.

I'm just thrilled to actually be able to play em.

Through all this time I've been musically active I've always been absolute SHIT at the drums, and now I can actually play decently.


And god yes, the ion set is awesome. I'm depressed that I had to put em away for a while to free up space in my room.

Yeah, the Drum Rocker takes up like half of the space in my room but I couldn't bear to move them out because I love them too much. In fact, I'm thinking of buying the third cymbal to make the set complete.

I'll tell you, the first time I loaded up "Feel The Pain" and hit all the snare rolls I nearly shit my pants. Would not have been possible at all on my original RB1 set that dropped red notes like a motherfucker, which made songs that switch the hi-hat to red like Orange Crush, Run to the Hills, and Outside WAY harder than they should have been.

"Orange Crush" was literally the only song in the first 6 tiers of RB1 I didn't have 5 starred because of how shitty my red pad was and both RttH and Outside were fucking hell to play :(. Whenever they'd pop up in a setlist I'd just sigh and consider turning the damn thing off.

Plug the drums into your pc and find/make some drivers and software and BAM basic electronic drumkit. Someone has probably already done this. *runs off to google to check*

Yeah, I've seen that before, don't know if it works with the Ion Kit though, but it probably does.

However, I'm thinking of just saving a bit of cash and buying an Alessis DM-5 drum brain which will turn my Ion into a fully-featured electronic drum kit.

I still need to get my double pedal for some of the dream theater stuff and the like. :(
