View Full Version : DS and roms
I've been thinking of picking up a DS Lite soon and I want to get something to play roms on it. It'd be great if i could use it for DS, NES, and SNES games if possible. I keep coming across this: http://www.gameboy-advance.net/nintendo_ds/nds-supercard.htm but i'm not sure if this is exactly what i want or if it comes with everything needed. There anything out there that does this moderately well?

I have a Super Card Mini SD and it works well, I've had no problems, etc.
You also need a flash card (basically a modded DS cartidge that loads from the GBA slot). I have a Pass Card, and again it was cheap and works well.
You may also want to look into a one card solution (M3 and R4 are the best ones), which is basically a DS cartridge with either built in memory or a SD card slot. These are sometimes more expensive though, but shop around nonetheless.
If you need any other help finding these ask, but a simple google search can answer them as well.

Personally, I say an M3/R4.
M3 DS Real ftw.

I use teh M3 Real and it's been fucking awesome to me.
My only complaint about it is that the casing on mine is very flimsy and the spring where I load the micro SD card is broke. It still works great though.
I have an R4 and I love it, plays everything and never freezes. I hear the cyclo DS is better, though. I would go with the Cyclo or the R4.
i ended up going with the supercard sd as to be able to play gba games. and passkey i believe is the name of the slot 1 card and i picked up with 2 gb card from newegg for like 7 bucks with a usb reader.

Sounds good. Mean all of the mentioned products are basically the same and can all run the same homebrew, etc. It comes down to just personal preference I suppose.
And 2 gigs? I just have a .5 gig and I can fit like 8 games, you'll be able to be indefinitely entertained with the proper games on it heh.

M3 DS Real can handle Micro SDHC. I've got an 8gb msd in mine so I can fit my DS and GBA backups.
So many carts. It's not easy lugging around all of that. :p
Another upside is the homebrew. I use DSOrganize pretty often. Heheh.

You can play gba backups off a slot 1 card? Or do you just use it as storage with something in the gba slot?

The latter. You have to get the GBA expansion, but you upload the backups to the msd that goes in the slot 1.
yeah the m3 was tempting especially with that micro sdhc but my phone also takes micro sd cards so if need be i have an extra gb to load things on. also they seemed a little pricier with the second slot adapter plugged in. cool stuff though, i'm pretty excited to have a back lit hand held... last one was an original gba.
